SCOPE
This Specification covers the design, construction, manufacturing, testing and delivery
requirements for the electrical equipment and components, which are supplied as part of
mechanical packages.
The equipment will be installed in the Sierra Gorda Project (SGP) property of Minera Quadra Chile
Ltda (MQCL), which is located in North Chile, Region Il. The project considers installations in the
mine. Site conditions are declared in the specification MQCL-NXSG-0000-IND-EST-MEC-0001
“Standard Technical and Site Data’ or NXSG-0000-5SET-002 “Criterio de Disefio Esténdares
Especificos de Geografia, Clima y Sismos — Puerto”
Purchase Order will define the electrical equipment to be supplied, which shall meet the applicable
sections of this specification
2. CODES AND STANDARDS
2.1.- Electrical equipment’s, materials, components and functions will be designed, built, rated
tested and will perform in accordance with the latest applicable standards requirements,
recommendations and guides of the following organizations.

3. ELECTRICAL DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
Equipment to be installed indoors will be shielded from direct sunlight, but will otherwise be
subjected to the same temperature extremes as outdoor equipment. Outdoor equipment will be
subjected to direct sunlight and weather. Whether the equipment is to be located indoors or
outdoors, it shall be capable of operating at rated capacity in ambient air temperatures, without
auxiliary heating or cooling equipment.

When required, mechanical package shall include motors, MCC, variable frequency drives for all
associated process equipment and corresponding cabling raceway system between MCC and field
equipment.
The project has some hazardous area classification defined as “Class |, Division 1 or Division 2 as
per NFPA-70, article 500-501- Hazardous (Classified) Locations’. If area classification is not
indicated, the contractor must specify it. All power, lighting and instruments wiring and equipment
installations included in the mechanical package for these areas, must comply with the
requirements stated for this hazardous area classification,
The use of circuit breakers is preferred. Fuses shall be provided only for use in control circuits
where device smaller than 15 A are required or for the individual protection of power semiconductor
circuits,
Where more than one motor or device is included, a main circuit breaker disconnect will be
Provided to disconnect the incoming power, so that the entire package may be de-energized at one
location.
Circuit breakers shall be thermal-magnetic trip type or an equivalent solid state trip type. Circuit
breakers larger than 160 A frame shall be equipped with adjustable instantaneous trips.
‘Where motor starters are in a common electrical enclosure, a separate disconnecting means will
be provided for each motor.
Low voltage disconnect switches shall be horse power rated heavy-duty industrial type.
List of acceptable suppliers for electrical equipments:
Motors: ABB, Siemens, Reliance, Weg, General Electric, US Motors.
Variable Frequency Drivers: ABB, Siemens, Allen Bradley.
4. VOLTAGES
Except in cases approved by the Buyer all motors furnished with mechanical Equipment, will be
feed from Motor Control Centers supplied by the Buyer. Where power is to be utilized at different
voltages from those listed below or at more than one voltage level, the Vendor shall supply the
transformation means with proper protection for connections to the following utilization voltages:

power is greater than 0,75 KW and less or equal than 200 KW,

5. EQUIPMENT
54 GENERAL
All equipment shall be designed to withstand seismic conditions of “Zone 4 — IBC, 2006", or
Chilean code Nch 2369, 2002 Zone 3,
The electrical equipment shall be power and current derated for the site altitude and site
temperatures as is specified in MQCL-NXSG-0000-IND-EST-MEC-0001, “Standard Technical and
Site Data’. Derating factors shall comply with ANS! and NEMA standards. For site altitude
consideration refer to paragraph 1
Enclosures for electrical equipment and panelboards shall be NEMA 4, for environmental
conditions having high concentration of particles of copper ore dust, NEMA 4X in corrosive area,
except items located in positively pressurized rooms, may be NEMA 12.
Control enclosures are to have threaded hubs for connection to rigid conduit.
‘Space heaters with thermostat controls shall be provided for outdoor applications. Heaters shall be

All wiring should be marked with shrinkable plastic printed. It not should be accept adhesives
marks.
5.2 MOTOR STARTERS:
Minimum size shall be NEMA 1; it shall be a magnetic only circuit breaker (HMCP) type
combination starter with “smart” type contactor. The combination starter assembly shall have a

minimum short-circuit rating of 65,000 A rms symmetrical. Whether motor starters are in an
individual or common electrical enclosures, each starter shall include an individual 120 V control
Power transformer at least 100 VA. The primary of each control power transformer shall be fused in
each phase and the secondary shall be fused on one side and solidly grounded on the other side.

Exception to above kW and voltage rating is permitted for AC motors fed through adjustable
frequency drives, cranes, hoists, elevators and mine equipment, previous evaluation and
approval by the Buyer.
All equipment shall be shipped with the drive(s), including motor(s), properly installed and
tested,

In case 380 V motors are part of Vendor scope of supply, those shall meet Technical Specification
MQCL-NXSG-0000-IND-EST-ELE-0003, "Low Voltage Induction Motors".
In case 4000 V motors are part of Vendor scope of supply, those shall meet Technical Specification
A6QM-TS-65-003-T, "Medium Voltage Induction Motors”
54 MOTOR CONTROL CENTER (MCC)
In general all Motor Control Centers including all the required motor starters will be supplied by the
Owner.
The materials selected for construction and the tests applied to the equipment, must meet or
exceed the provisions of the latest version of the rules in this document.
‘The CCM should be of type "Dead Front’, composed of vertical sections that are required, forming
@ continuous structure, aligned and self-supporting, including all components and accessories.
The degree of protection of the CCM should be NEMA 12.
The communication cable shall be class such that at least equals the maximum voltage applied to
any conductor within the CCM,
55 CONTROLS
All electrically driven equipment will have locally mounted a control station. Pushbuttons for a group
of motors may be mounted together on a locall pane.
All pushbutton stations shall be Allen Bradley or equivalent heavy-duty oil tight type with water-tight

All sequencing status and interlocking process functions required by the mechanical package shall
be made through the Distributed Control System (DCS) and/or associated programmable logic
controllers (PLC).
All emergency stop functions (conveyor pull-cords, emergency pump stop, etc.) shall be hardwired
to the starter independent of the DCS for safety reasons.
2d Ailstop pushbuttons shall be red and shall include retentive mechanism. All start pushbuttons shall
be green and works as JOG mode.
Control relays, when approved by the Owner, shall be heavy-duty industrial type, minimum rating
600 V, with120 V ac coils, 50 Hz. In general the use of control relays shall be avoided.
‘Solenoid valves shall be encapsulated, rated 120 V, 50 Hz.
Limit switch shall be heavy-duty, oil tight in NEMA 4X enclosure, contact rated at 120 volts.
All motors controlled from remote operator stations shall have a NEMA 4X, heavy-duty, local
control station (LCS).
Except for the motor starters supplied with MCC’s for the Buyer, all control components necessary
for complete functioning of the packaged equipment are to be furnished, This includes such items.
as limit switches, pressure switches, thermostats, pushbuttons, relays, contactors, and control
panels. Each item furnished is to be heavy duty, suitable for severe industrial environments.
Motor control wiring shall be according to NEMA, Class |, type B.
‘Wherever possible, interconnecting wiring is to be complete, with terminals furnished for incoming
power.
56 VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE (VFD)
Ad _ ncase of Low Voltage Variable Frequency Drives (VFO is part of Vendor scope of supply), it shall

57 LIGHTING AND POWER DISTRIBUTION PANELS.
Panels for lighting and low voltage power distribution shall be equipped with molded case, thermal
magnetic, quick-make/quick-break type circuit breakers for branch circuit protection. Each branch
Circuit breaker shall be single pole, rated 20 amperes unless otherwise stated on the panel
schedules,

The lighting panelboards and power distribution panels shall be rated 400/231 V, 3 phase, 4 wire
with solid neutral.
Power supply for lighting will be from dry type isolating transformers having standard taps on the
high voltage winding. The transformers shall be rated 400 V (delta primary)-400/231 V (wye
secondary), 3 phase, 50 Hz, 4 wire with solidly grounded neutral. Transformers will be supplied by
others.
ZA _ HPS lighting fixtures shall be used for outdoor installations, which shall meet regulation D.S. 686
issued in 1998 by Ministerio de Economia Fomento y Reconstruccion, Republica de Chile
regarding luminic contamination. MH lighting fixtures for indoor process areas and fluorescent
lighting fixtures for offices and electrical rooms.
Emergency lighting shall be provided by 2 hours battery packs at exit doors, passageways and
stairways,

Control panels with voltages above 120 VAC shall be provided with external disconnect switch
interlocked with the door to prevent access unless disconnect switch is in "off" position. Control
Panels with multiple external voltage sources shall be provided with warning nameplate.
ZA Atvincandescent lighting fixture, a duplex 220 VAC receptacle and a folding laptop table shall be
provided inside each free standing control panel.
Control relays shall be furnished only for contact multiplication; simple logic functions for
standardized equipment; or where the scope of the required functions is too small for the
economical use of programmable logic controllers.
Control relays shall have N.O. to N.C. replaceable, convertible contacts and numbered terminals.
Each relay shall have 4 contacts, including at least one spare.
Other types of relays may be furnished, for specific purpose contacts with ratings less than those
specified, by special approval.
Time delay relays shall be plug-in type, each with a solid state timer and displays indicating the
setting and time status of the relay.
‘Whenever possible, distributed control system, instruments, and selector switches shall be grouped
and mounted in common control panel enclosures,

Seller's wiring shall be restricted to one side of the terminal blocks. Wire marker shall be provided
on each wire.
A single group of 25% spare terminals shall be provided.
Alll enclosures more than 610 mm (2 feet) wide shall include a copper ground bus running the full
‘width of the enclosure. Doors shall be no more than 1270 mm (50 inches) wide.
Alll devices shall be directly connected to the ground bus. When a ground bus is not required, they
shall be effectively grounded to the apparatus enclosure. Enclosures not more than 1500 mm (5
feet) wide shall be provided with one clamp type ground lug for connection to Buyer's ground
system. Enclosures more than 1500 mm (5 feet) wide shall be provided with one clamp type
ground lug at each end for connection to Buyer's ground system,
ZA Solid state devices shall be fully protected against malfunction or damage caused by electrical
noise or transients including extremely severe nearby lightning strokes.
All devices on package equipment shall be wired to a common terminal box mounted on the
equipment
‘Terminals provided for Buyer's connections shall accommodate one #16 AWG (1.5 mm2) to two
#12 AWG (4 mm2) copper conductors for control circuits or one #20 AWG to two #16 AWG
conductors for low level signal and instrument circuits.
All operating devices shall be provided with nameplates showing the equipment controlled and the
device function. Nameplates, escutcheon plates, legend plates, and any other plates containing
written oF printed information shall be manufactured out of acid resistant plastic or 316 stainless
steel, The use of acid resistant clear paint over other types of materials is not acceptable. Where
engraved laminated plastic nameplates are used, they shall have white lettering on a black surface.
Soldered connections shall be used only on printed circuit boards. All external connections to
printed circuit boards shall be plug in type.
Enclosures shall not have sharp edges or pointed objects, such as the pointed ends of sheet metal
screws, on the exterior or inside any wireway.
Adhesives shall not be used for mounting any devices, parts, or components. All devices, parts,
and components including nameplates, wireways, and wire supports shall be mounted with screws
or bolts.

5.9 HEATING ELEMENTS
‘Space heaters shall be provided for all outdoor mounted control panels. Space heaters shall be
ZA rated at 380 VAC and operated at 220 VAC.
Space heaters shall be controlled by adjustable thermostat and they shall be provided with
terminals and terminal enclosures suitable for use with 75°C wire without derating,
Any space heater that can reach 70 °C or higher shall be protected with an expanded metal cage.
Necessary information regarding space heater power shall be conspicuously indicated on the
control panel.
5.10 VIBRATION AND TEMPERATURE ELEMENTS
Critical equipment of high power should have accelerometer and temperature measurement
included. Those instruments should be specified, for allow integration to Monitoring System for
predictive maintenance. This system should be specified by plant Area

All wiring shall be completely enclosed in exposed conduit or raceways, junction boxes or
panelboards. Gasketed conduit fittings shall be supplied and installed where required.
/\, |? corrosive area all conduits shall be PVC sunlight resistant schedule 60 and raceways shall be
fiber glass type, minimum conduit size shall be % in. All conduit supports, clamps, and struts shall
be 316 stainless steel or FRP.
Liquid-tight type UA or LA, Sunlight resistant PVC covered flexible conduit shall be used for
connection to motor, switches, etc., where adjustment or vibrations require flexible connections.
For flexible conduit a separate ground wire shall be to ensure continuity,
Minimum 600 Volt wire for power, lighting, and control shall be single conductor stranded copper
THW type with thermoplastic PVC insulation. Minimum conductor size shall be #12 AWG for power
Circuits and #14 AWG for control circuits.
‘The 600 V and instrumentation cables shall be segregated by running them in conduits, in separate
trays or in trays with cable separators.

Cables carrying instrumentation analog signals shall be separated from parallel runs of AC power
circuits by a minimum distance of 0.3 m. Ninety degree crossovers will be permitted but they shall
be kept to a minimum.

All wiring outside of electrical enclosed shall be installed using only the following methods:
-Hut dip galvanized stee! ANSI C 80.1 in all location,
-Galvanized stee! liquid-tight flexible metal conduit in short lenghs only when flexible connections
are essential in all areas, except those in which their use is prohibited by NFPA 70 described in
Chapter 5.
7. GROUNDING
Grounding of equipment shall conform to NEC requirements,

The Vendor is expected to complete all electrical work within the confines of his package. Where
the package does not have a rigid enclosure, everything that can be shipped in one piece shall be
shipped preassembled and prewired

Electrical power supply feeders (main and motors) and grounding to the termination point of
Vendor's equipment.
Wiring between the Vendor's equipment and those devices which are furnished by Others,
Wiring between pieces of the equipment which are too large to be shipped assembled, In these
cases, where possible, Vendor shall furnish prefabricated wiring harnesses
10. WORK BY VENDOR
Selection of electrical enclosures compatible with the equipment location (indoor or outdoor), wiring
method (exposed or concealed), and corrosive classification of the environment.

All assembly and wiring within the Vendor's package.
Identified power, control and signal terminal blocks for the Purchaser's wiring
All electrical components (relays, switches, fuses, circuit breakers, meters, etc.) shall be tagged, at
the component location, with a suitable designation and likewise identified on any/all drawings
supplied by the Vendor.
Vendor is to furnish a complete set of electrical drawings including single lines, schematics,
layouts, and interconnection diagrams.
11. INSPECTION AND TESTING
Except for low energy and electronic circuits, wiring at all voltage levels shall be checked for
insulation resistance. All circuits shall be checked for continuity.
A functional test shall be performed, in addition to the continuity check, before shipping. A
functional test consists of simulating the Purchaser's devices with breadboard switches, relays,
lights, resistors, etc. and the complete exercising of each circuit while observing for proper
operation. All defects shall be corrected prior to shipment. Vendor shall provide his proposed
testing procedure for approval by the Purchaser at least one month prior to the scheduled tests.
All equipment covered by this specification shall be subject to inspection and/or witnessed testing
by the Purchaser or his designated representative.
Inspectors shall be granted access to any or all parts of Vendor's plant engaged in the
manufacturing and testing of the packaged equipment.
12. ENGINEERING DATA REQUIREMENTS,
All symbols used on drawings shall be in accordance with applicable ANSI standards.
ZS 13. NAMEPLATES
All Electrical Enclosed Equipments and Devices shall be identified with nameplate.
