How many do we need? How many do we have? How many more do we need?
How many do we have in excess?
Right number of HRH Current number of HRH

health services the required number
of HRH based on standards

Notes:
The analysis defines the sufficiency, or excess, or gaps in the health workforce by determining HRH
demand, or the number of HRH needed to ensure access to health services in a locality; and HRH supply,
or the number of HRH working in health facilities and offices in the same locality. The difference
between demand and supply is the starting point for determining staffing requirements or standards.
