DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY
The Company is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all
employees, customers, business partners and clients, and recognizes that drugs and
alcohol have the potential to impair a person's ability to work safely and increases
the potential for accidents and injuries.
Meanwhile, every employee and clients have a reciprocal obligation to ensure the
safety of themselves, fellow employees, customers and/or clients to the workplace.
Accordingly, this policy has been developed to minimize the risks to health and
safety in the workplace which may arise from the use of alcohol or drugs.
For this reason, the Company will not permit any person whilst at work to:
* Be in possession of, or sell illicit drugs
* Be under the influence of illicit drugs
* Have a blood alcohol concentration level of greater than 0.00%
Any employee, customer or visitor believed to be under the influence of alcohol or
illegal drugs is not permitted to work or enter the company premises until free of
such influence. The employee will be screened for alcohol and/or illicit drugs in
accordance with drug and alcohol procedure. The Company may request that any
retum to work be accompanied by a medical certificate from a medical practitioner
certifying the employee fit to return to work.
Employees to the Company who are taking prescription or non-prescription drugs
must report their use to their supervisor or occupational health nurse when the use of
such drugs may affect the person’s ability to perform assigned duties or impact
adversely on other employees, customers, or visitors.
Any drug and/or alcohol related problem is to be as far as practicable treated as
strictly confidential. Treatment and/or counseling are to be sought and undertaken
and the person's immediate supervisor is to be kept informed.
Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action and including termination of
‘employment. Employees may be terminated summarily for breach of this policy.
This policy does not form and conditions employment. The condition of mutual trust
and confidence between the Company and the employees does not incorporate this
Drug and Alcohol Policy into the terms and conditions of employment. The Company
reserves the right to withdraw or vary this policy at any time.
