The Admission Committee reviewed your application to the Class of 2028, and after a careful and
thoughtful review, we write to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to Bates College.

We understand this is disappointing news. For us to suggest otherwise would not respect the sincere
effort that you, and so many others, invested in your college search. This year, once again, the number
of applicants who showed strong evidence of merit and talent was far higher than we could admit due
to the small size of our first-year class. We appreciate the time and energy you devoted to applying to
Bates.

If you have not already done so, you should submit applications to other colleges, and any applications
already submitted to other institutions should be kept active. While we understand this final decision is
not what you hoped for, we wish you continued success as you pursue higher education.
