WINTER SAFETY CIRCULAR

Dated: 20 Oct, 2023

As we approach the upcoming winter season, it's important to ensure that we are
prepared to face the challenges that this season brings, both in our professional offices
and at home. Safety is paramount, and this circular is designed to provide you with
essential tips and guidelines for a safe and comfortable winter.

1. Use of Gas Heaters: In colder months, many of us rely on gas heaters for warmth.
While these heaters can be effective, they can also pose safety hazards. Please take the
following precautions:

 Ensure that gas heaters are well-maintained and regularly inspected by

professionals.

 Keep heaters away from flammable materials, including curtains, paper, and
furniture.

 Use gas heaters only in well-ventilated areas to prevent carbon monoxide

buildup.

 Do not leave gas heaters unattended and turn them off before leaving the office
or home.

 Keep a fire extinguisher handy, and ensure all employees are aware of its
location.

2. Clothing: Dressing appropriately for the winter season is crucial for personal safety.
Encourage the following:

 Wear layers of clothing to maintain body heat. This includes thermal

undergarments, sweaters, and insulated jackets.

 Don't forget warm accessories such as hats, gloves, scarves, and insulated boots.

3. Office Safety: In addition to gas heater precautions, maintain a safe working

environment during the winter months:

 Avoid sitting too close to visitors showing signs of sickness.

 Keep a safe distance of minimum 4 feet from all visitors and try to give good
gestures so that they feel comfortable (please be empathetic in your approach).

 Give due respect to visitors but avoid shaking hands frequently.

 Wear Face Mask.

4. Home Safety: At home, be extra cautious to ensure a safe and comfortable winter
season:

 Check your heating system for any issues before the cold weather sets in.

 Insulate windows and doors to prevent drafts and conserve energy.

 Be cautious with space heaters and ensure they are in good working condition.

 In case of power outages, have a backup plan with flashlights, blankets, and non-
perishable food items.

5. Health and Well-being: The winter season can sometimes bring seasonal illnesses.
Encourage wellness:

 Promote flu vaccinations for you and your family.

 Encourage employees to stay home if they are feeling unwell to prevent the
spread of illness in the office.

Remember that safety is a collective effort. We must all take responsibility for our own
safety as well as the safety of our colleagues and loved ones. In case of any emergencies
or safety concerns, please contact Security Office.

Team Leaders are requested to disseminate the contents of this circular with everyone
and put up this safety circular at prominent place in your office. Let's work together to
ensure a safe and comfortable winter season for all.

Stay warm and stay safe!

Sincerely,
