FIFA WORLD CUP
We have the same data about FIFA World Cup Final games. Each row represents a final match in a given year. I have
two new tabs based on the original data.
Questions on Canvas:
In Winners and Runnerups tab, write a formula in B20 to display the number of World Cup finals the country in A20
played (that is, the number of World Cup finals in which the country was either the winner or the runnerup).
=________(A20,A2:B15,________,FALSE)+________(A20,A2:C15,________,FALSE)
In the formula in Q1, suppose one changes the values of last arguments in those two functions from FALSE to TRUE.
that the other blanks were filled correctly. The new formula would be as follows:
=________(A20,A2:B15,________,TRUE)+________(A20,A2:C15,________,TRUE)
T/F The new formula (when the other blanks are properly filled) would work in the same way as the correct formula
any country name you can enter in A20 regardless of whether the country has played a World Cup final or not.
True
False
=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(A21,A2:B18,2,FALSE)),0,VLOOKUP(A21,A2:B18,2,FALSE))
The formula in B21 returns the number of times the country in A21 has hosted World Cup finals if the country has e
hosted the event; it returns 0, otherwise.
Note that ISNA function checks whether the value is an N/A error, and returns TRUE if it is or FALSE otherwise.
Instead of that formula, I would have had just the following formula:
=VLOOKUP(A21,A2:B18,2,FALSE)
T/F The latter formula (i.e., VLOOKUP(A21,A2:B18,2,FALSE)) would return an N/A error if the country in A21 has nev
a World Cup?
