Portfolio Piece #1: Elements of Design

Below are the elements of art/ design. For each term, you will
a. Provide a definition (in your own words)
b. Find a picture of commercial art (poster, advertisement, painting, web banner,
etc.) that demonstrates that term
c. Explain how the picture you found demonstrates the term (at least 3 full
sentences).
d. Reflect and turn in to Google Classroom.

It has great detail in showing it’s form, like looking like it’s going down on a normal

is an essential element of art because it can help create the illusion of depth,

You can easily see the colour changes between light and dark, to make it seem old
timey or a older atmosphere.

Although it’s just on a paper, it feels like you can just pick them up, like their 3d.

Reflect & Share


Answer the following questions with at least 3 sentences each.

A. Describe what the process of defining and identifying the elements of design was like for
you.
It wasn’t very hard for me. All I did was research and then type then found images. You just
found the image, and described what is was. Also, it’s relevance to the element.

B. Upon reflection, discuss any challenges you encountered and what you did as a result.
There was not a lot for shape upon research, so that one took a little while to find a good photo.
It was not until I thought about a skyscraper, my mind was blank. It was just a little bit tricky.

C. What have you learned about the importance of these elements in digital media?
These elements can promote things, like the coco- cola ad. Wether it’s to make money
advertising a product, or it could be to promote art. Either way the elements help improve
advertising.
