Microphone Switch
The microphone switch is internal to the construction of the mask and is activated by the
user’s inhalation. While normally in the “ON” position, the switch disconnects only during
inhalation, which stops the transmission of breathing noise during communications.

• While still inflated, in one fluid motion place the mask nosecone to the chin and insert the
face into the mask and oronasal cone.
• Allow the harness to drop behind the head and release the inflation button(s) on the
regulator.
• Verify the mask fits, seals, and functions properly.
• Remove smoke goggles from the smoke goggles container.
• Squeeze goggles top and bottom to expand sides and slip over eyeglasses (if applicable).
• Seat goggles frame on purge valve located on mask facecone.
• Place headband behind head.
• Pull headband tabs out and back to tighten.
• Adjust goggles and headband as necessary for fit and comfort.
• Turn crew mask regulator knob to “EMER” setting.
• When goggles are seated on the urge valve and the regulator is set to the emergency
setting, oxygen will flow into the goggles to clear them of gas, smoke, and fog. If
necessary, replace the headset at this time.
NOTE: Confirm:
- Mask donning operation can be performed within 5 seconds
- Goggles donning operation can be performed within 15 seconds using
2 hands

• The Sweep-On 2000 Stowage Box features provide for preflight testing of the mask to be
performed without removing the unit and opening the box doors.
• With the regulator control knob set on “NORM” or “100%”, depress the “TEST/RESET”
button on the right door. (Reference Figure 12)
- The “Oxy On” flag will be displayed.
• A short illumination or “blink” of the indicator proves that the crew mask system is
functioning.
• The regulator pressurization should be momentarily audible in the headset.
• Once the mask fully pressurizes, the indicator will go out showing that the oxygen system
is leak free.
• By switching the control knob to the “EMER” position and depressing the “TEST/RESET”
button, the indicator will come on and stay on showing oxygen continuing to flow through
the regulator until the “TEST/RESET” button is released and/or the “EMER” mode is
turned off.
• At any time, releasing the “TEST/RESET” button should cause an audible drain of the
regulator and the indicator to go out.

• Press the red harness inflation button(s) on the regulator and the harness should inflate
smoothly.
• Release the red harness inflation button(s) and the harness should deflate smoothly.
• Don the mask and breathe normally; check for breathing quality in each of the three
control modes. The mask shall not vibrate, chatter, or flutter excessively.
• Speak normally into the mask. The microphone shall operate without excessive noise or
static at normal volume.
• Doff the mask and restow per instruction decal on stowage cup. (Reference Figure 11)
• To loosen headband and remove goggles, push forward on metal thumb tabs on
headband buckle assemblies.
• On Masks equipped with comfort control, the wearer may reduce the harness tension in
non-emergency situations after donning.
• When comfort control is desired, the wearer slowly pushes back on the harness
attachments until the desired comfort level is reached.
• If too much adjustment is achieved, the wearer may “TAP” or “BUMP” the inflation lever
inward causing momentary bursts of deflation. This resets the harness to the full tension
position.
CAUTION: AT NO TIME SHOULD THE WEARER USE A COMFORT CONTROL SETTING
THAT ALLOWS THE MASK TO BE HANGING OFF THE FACE.
NOTE: Above 15,000 cabin altitude, comfort control feature should not be used.
4.1.1 Requirement
The Sweep-On 2000 Oxygen Mask is emergency protective breathing and when used with
Smoke Goggles protection is provided for the eyes from hypoxia, smoke, and/or toxic gas
situations. This section outlines the proper procedures to maintain the faceseal assembly for
optimum performance at all times. This procedure should be performed at standard
maintenance intervals or as required on condition during routine inspections.
4.1.2 Reference Documents
Component Maintenance Manual (contact supplier for applicable manuals).
Regulator
• Wipe with lint-free cloth.
Goggles Lens
