HOW TO SET UP PRINTER IN LINUX (UBUNTU)

1. Login to your Linux machine and click “Show Application”.


2. In the “type to search…” dialogue box, type “printers”.

3. Double click “printers” and click “Additional Printer Settings”.
4. In the next printer window, select “+Add”.
5. In the “New Printer” window, select “Network Printer” then “Windows Printer via SAMBA” and click
“Forward”.

6. In the SMB Printer dialogue box, enter sfuprint-p.mps.sfu.ca/SFU_Print_non_AD_auth


7. Under “Authentication”, select “Set authentication details now” and enter your password and SFU
username then click “Forward”.
8. In the next window, under “Choose Driver” select “Provide PPD file”.

9. Browse for “Ricoh-MP_C6004ex-PDF-Ricoh.ppd” in the directory “Home” then “papercut” folder (this
is the folder you created earlier were you put the Papercut client and drivers). After that, click
“Forward”.
10. In the “Installable Options”, choose “Lower Paper Trays” for Option Tray and “Finisher SR3210 for the
Finisher then click “Forward” again.

11. Click “Apply”.


12. Once the network printer is installed, you have the option to print a test page.

13. If everything has been setup properly, this login box will appear. Enter your SFU username and
password to send the print job.
14. If you ever get a “CUPS-ERROR…”, you can try the following commands:

sudo apt-get purge cups

sudo apt-get install cups --install-suggests
