mr Magic ring Here is a nice tutorial from Planet June. You can also use the chain 2
method
ch chain
sl sl Slip stitch
sc Single crochet
scb Single crochet in Do a regular single crochet but instead of inserting the hook where
the stitch below you normally would, insert it in the row below (in this case it’s always
below a sl st)
hdc Half double Yarn over, crochet in next stitch, yarn over, pass through, yarn over,
crochet pass through 3 loops
dc Double crochet Yarn over, crochet in next stitch, yarn over, pass through, yarn over,
pass through 2 loops, yarn over, pass through 2 loops
dec Decrease I like using invisible decreases: put crochet through front loops of the
next 2 stitches, then single crochet
sbo Spikey bobble I learned this from awesome Louie from Club crochet and his
stitch hobgoblin patterns (ClubCrochet.com). It is like a bobble stitch with a
mini picot in the middle. This creates a nice claw for the dragon. You
could also replace this with a bobble stitch, although the fingers will
be rounded instead of spiked.
Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pass through stitch,
yarn over, pass through 2 loops. You should have 2 loops in the hook.
Yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch, yarn over, pass through
stitch, yarn over, pass through 2 loops. You should have 3 loops in the
hook.
ch 2, sl st in 2nd chain from the hook.
Yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch, yarn over, pass through
stitch, yarn over, pass through 2 loops. You should have 4 loops in the
hook. Yarn over, pass through all 4 loops, trying to keep the (ch2, sl st)
on the right side of your work.
Everything is crocheted in rounds without joining or turning unless otherwise specified.
Parts in parenthesis are supposed to be repeated all around, numbers in brackets are the final count for
the round.
HEAD
I made 2 versions of the head, one with small ears and no nostrils, one with nostrils and larger ears. The
purple parts are the changes needed for the second version.
1. Mr 6 [6]
2. (sc, inc) [9] [sc, inc, nostril, sc, sc, nostril, sc in same as previous, sc, inc]
3. (sc) [9] [sc in each, skipping the nostrils]

8. (sc) skipping the ears [16]
9. (sc) [16]
10. If using safety eyes, insert them now between the nostrils and the ears. Since the head is so
small, depending on the type of eyes you may need to cut the part inside after inserting the
washer. I used 6mm eyes.
11. (2sc, dec) [12]
12. You can add eyebrows before stuffing and closing. Stuff firmly
13. (dec) [6]
14. Fasten off

Insert a wire and start stuffing. The wire should be a little bit longer than the whole body, so you can
insert it into the head and be able to bend it properly
If you want to be able to cover your laptop’s camera or If your screen is wider you may want to add a
couple of rows of 9sc to make the neck longer, so when it’s folded the face is in front of the screen while
the rest of the body remains in the back.
The body is supposed to have a side of the neck a little bit longer on the opposite side of the belly, this
will make it easier to sew on the head. This part depends on where the end of the current round is. For
me it was usually one of the two options below (the one in black letters or the one in purple letters). You
can also not do this next part and just sew on the head.
34. Ch 1, turn, 5st [4sc, ch1, turn, 5sc]
35. Turn, skip, 4st
36. Finish stuffing
Sew the head to the body using the extension to hide the head's ending
LEGS

BACK OF LEG
1. Mr 6 [6]
2. (Sc, inc) [9]
3. (Sc) [9]
4. (sc, dec) [6]
5. Sl st and fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing to the leg
Insert a wire or a piece of pipe cleaner folded in half, make sure to leave enough to put into the body at
least half an inch. Sew to the body.
WINGS
Wing body
Start with contrast color. The wings are crocheted in rows and not rounds, so turn at the end of each
row.
1. Mr 3, ch1, turn
2. Sl st in 1st sc, [sl st, sc] in next sc, 1sc in last sc, ch2, turn
3. Sc in 2nd ch from the hook, SC in 1st sc, [sc, sc] in next sc, 2scb, ch 1 turn
4. 2 sl st, [sc, sc] in next sc, 3sc, ch 3 turn
5. Hdc in 3rd ch from the hook, 3hdc, [sc, sc] in next sc, 1sc in next sc, 2scb, ch 1 turn
6. 3 sl st, [sc, hdc] in next sc, 5dc, ch3 turn
7. Dc in 3rd ch, 5dc, [hdc, sc] in next sc, 1sc in next SC, 3scb, ch 1 turn
8. 5sl st, [sc,hdc] in next sc, 6 dc, ch3 turn
9. Dc in 3rd ch, 6dc, [hdc, sc] in next sc, 1sc in next SC, 5scb, ch 1 turn
10. 6sl st, [sc, hdc] in next sc, 8dc, 3ch turn
11. Dc in 3rd ch, 7dc, 1hdc, [hdc, sc] in next sc, 1sc in next SC, 6scb, ch 1 and fasten off
Make the two wings before continuing to the veins
Wing veins
Attach body color where you finished the wing
1. Sc along the top edge of the wing up until the 'elbow' (~5)
2. Mark a line from this 'elbow' to the the 1st 'ch3 turn' and sl st along this line
3. Ch 2, sl st 1, then sl st all the way back to the 'elbow' on the back of the wing (where you can
only see a kind of dashed line). Folding the wing makes this easier
4. Sl st in the 'elbow, then mark a 2nd line to the 3rd 'ch 3 turn' and sl st along this line
5. Ch 2, sl st 1, then sl st all the way back to the 'elbow' on the back of the wing (where you can
only see a kind of dashed line). Folding the wing makes this easier
6. Keep sc along the top edge of the wing until the end (~10), ch3, turn
7. 2Sl st, then 10 sl st again until the 'elbow'. When you reach the gap where you created the
vertical lines sc in one of the sc of the row below to fill it, ch3, sl st 2, sl st in the same prev sc. Sl
st until the beginning of the wing
Do the other wing in the same way, making sure to flip it first so you have one left wing and one
right wing. Sew to the back
SPIKES
Small spike
Ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch
Medium spike
Ch3, sl st in 2nd ch, sc in next ch
Large spike
Ch4, sl st in 2nd ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch
Keep adding spikes until you have enough for the body of your dragon. I like making smaller ones on the
head and tail, and larger ones on the back.
Sew this to the body.
Use the wires in the body and arms to shape your dragon so it can hold on to your laptop screen.
