Q2 Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Learn and be able to do related facts on their own.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Students will write out addition and subtraction equations and use related facts to re-write
them correctly.

CSTP Rationale (Describe the ways your lesson aligns with the six California Standards for the
Teaching Profession)

CSTP 1 Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning – At the start of I will ask this
question, “What does 4 + 5 = ? … 9 , well what does 5 + 4 = ? … 9 again! What about 9 –
4 ? … 5! And 9 – 5 = ? … 4 ! Does anyone see a relation with these problems?

CSTP 2 Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning –

Nothing I say will be orientated towards one group / person but instead to orientated for
everyone.

CSTP 3 Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning – They will
have a worksheet that they will be following as we go through lesson.

CSTP 4 Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students – I
will use a worksheet specificly made so that everyone in the class can follow and understand
clearly. I will also explain everything in short yet descriptive sentences in words every student
can follow.
CSTP 5 Assessing Students for Learning – At the end the kids will work on the last part of
the worksheet, the last part involves on their own using related facts for problems I made.
Then at the end I will at pick on a couple students to share an answer they got.

CSTP 6 Developing as a Professional Educator – I will reflect on all the help and teaching I
have done to the students and take everything and mush it together so that I can teach the
best way I can.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

I will hand a piece of scratch paper. I will have a whiteboard marker and whiteboard space,
the first slide will have an equation of 4 + 5, then next slide will be 5 + 4, after that the next
slide will be 9 – 4, and then 4 – 9. I will ask pick on a kid with a raised hand to answer all of
those math problems. After we go through them, I will then ask the question “Does anyone
see any relationships between these math problems?” Then I will go over the relationship and
talk about how this is called related facts. I will go into a brief yet descriptive explanation on
related facts that they can understand, I will mostly emphasize how we are using the same
number but in different ways. I will then ask the question, “On your whiteboards, can you write
4 equations out of the numbers 3, 6, and 9?” I will then hand out a worksheet for them to work
on, I will give them 5-10 minutes to work on it, after they are done, I will pick on kids with
raised hands to answer share their answers. If someone needs help, I will go over it with them
and the whole class.

Instructional Procedures

• Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

I will say “Dolphin’s Swim.” They will then respond with, “Lets dive in!”

• Instructional Strategies (Click into that link for help describing all instructional methods you will
employ during the lesson. Remember, instructional strategies fall into one or more of the following
broad categories: DIRECT, INDIRECT, EXPERIENTIAL, INTERACTIVE, INDEPENDENT
STUDY)

Direct, Indirect, Independent, and a bit of interactive.

• Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)
I will be very enthusiastic when I speak and have them do a worksheet that later they
will share their answers to.

• Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

I will walk around the room checking to make sure each kid is doing what they are
supposed to do.

• Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

I will end it on them doing their worksheet, after the time is up I will go over the
answers with them and why its right.

• Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will use the worksheet I handed out.

Lesson Plan Materials (Include everything needed to successfully complete the lesson with
the full class. Remember to include all supplies, as well as technology, whiteboard space,
classroom space, etc.)
I will use a worksheet, scratch paper, and whitepoweboard space.
