The 10 m long beam shown in FIGURE below is supported at one point only
and loaded as shown. Determine the distance X. from the left-end so that the
beam is equilibrium. (Ignore the self-weight of the beam.)

R is loaded as shown.

3.2.1 Determine the reactions of both supports by taking moments about

must also support a 25 kn load, situated at the right hand end of the beam,

5.2 A person pushes with 100 N against a solid wall for 1 minute without

5.3 A 60 kg mass is lifted vertically 52 m without 45 seconds

5.4 A constant force of 80 N is applied on the circumference of a gear

5.5 A train with a mass of 200 000 kg has a tractive resistance of 12N/kN
(wind, friction, etc.) If the train is moving on a level at 20 m/s, determine the
following:
