The impact of using Social Media on Body Image and Self-esteem in Adolescents

Some of the articles that I read the studies that have been evaluated indicate that as a result of
unfavorable upward comparisons of one's outward appearance, spending more time on social media
is associated with an intensification of body image issues in both young men and women. The
danger of developing self-dissatisfaction and body issues is increased by problematic social media
use that is passive and centered on platforms with an emphasis on images. The regular usage of
image-related social media sites is strongly correlated with disordered eating habits. Body image
issues have received minimal attention in media studies. The press has predicted that concerns
about one's health will be a key concern for individuals of all ages, but persons in their teens. Given
how, there are certain advantages and disadvantages. It has become a significant problem for
teenagers and young adults. This raises a problem. This study, which examines several media
influence theories, asks whether social media is too much to blame for the propagation of beliefs
that lead young people to negative views on health.

where youth begin to form their own identity and create meaningful relationships but the usage
of social media can impact on area of their development hence this paper evaluates the
impact of social media on self-esteem of youth.

in adolescents.

influence of friends‟ impact children's perception of their body image through social media and
