Objectives
At the end of the lesson the learners will be able to:
 Understand Present Perfect Tense sentences in appropriate level
 Make sentence with Present Perfect structure
 Describe experiences with Present Perfect structure
 Use the structure by giving examples from daily life

Materials: Board, board marker, worksheets, video.

Lesson Procedure

LESSON 1

Warm-up (10 minutes)


1. Teacher asks them the most exciting and unforgettable experience.

Pre-Activity (30 minutes)


1. Teacher presents structure by using board.
2. He teaches the 3 uses of present perfect tense; for experience, past time without
expressing exact time and the actions starting in the past and still going on.
3. He writes many examples on the board for each rule, because it is really difficult to
understand present perfect tense for Turkish students.

LESSON 2

While-Activity (15 minutes)


1. Teacher reminds the usage of present perfect tense quickly.
2. Teacher informs the students that they are going to play a game.
GAME:
*Teacher gives a worksheet to each student.
*There are some infinitive verbs in the box.
*Students write their experiences by using those verbs.
*Their sentences will include both truths and lies.
*After writing, each student chooses five sentences and reads them to other students.
*After each sentence, other students try to guess if it is true or false.
*Teacher keeps score carefully for each student.
*The student(s) who know(s) more than others win(s).

Post-Activity (25 minutes)


1. Teacher gives brief feedback.
2. He gives a worksheet to each student.
3. He plays the video.
4. In the first exercise, students decide if the statements are true or false.
5. In the second exercise, they complete the sentences.
6. In the third exercise, they complete the sentences according to themselves.
7. Teacher skips the fourth exercise, the game, because, It has already been played
extensively.
8. Teacher reminds them how and where to use present perfect tense briefly.
9. While he is teaching, he gets help from students.
10. After grammar part students look at the vocabulary part and match the words to the
photos.

LESSON 3

Summary (40 minutes)


1. Students read the conversation carefully.
2. Students look at the 3rd exercise and make correct statements as many as they can by
combining the words in the three columns.
3. Before checking answers, teacher wants them to read aloud to check their pronunciation.
4. He checks their answers.
5. Students do the 2nd grammar exercise.
6. In oral practice part, there is a survey.
7. In the survey, students make questions about experience by using those prompts.
8. The last 2 boxes are empty, so they write their own questions.
9. At first, each student gives his/her own answer to each question.
10. After that, s/he asks the questions to three different students in the class and writes their
answers.
11. After the activity, teacher recaps the subjects and finishes the lesson.
