Orientation Video Script:

Hi, I’m Kent Copeland, Jr and serve as the Assistant Director of Student Accounts here at Marist College.
As a member of the student financial Services team, my primary role is to support students and families
in finding the best tools and resources to support your studies.

Today we’ll discuss how best to manage your e-bill or student billing platform. All semester billing is
accessible through MyMarist.edu, your student portal. In this centralized billing platform, you can access
your account details, access itemized semester statements, make payments and even create an
Authorized Party, where your parent or guardian can access your bill.

Your Tuition bill will consist of the semesters itemized charges, including your estimated financial aid as a
deduction, like scholarships, grants and federal loans.

You’ll also have payment options made available to you. The college offers a term based payment plan
where you can choose how much you plan to pay for the term and spread that payment over the 5
months of the term. This is a convenient, customizable and affordable approach when paying for your
educational expenses. Rather than making a lump sum payment, you can make smaller, more affordable
payments over a period of time.

Another option would be the Federal Parent PLUS Loan, parents can apply at studentaid.gov

Private Loan options are available as well, this would be taken out in the name of the student, we have a
dedicated Loan Center and staff to support any questions you may have regarding finding the right
private loan, also consider using the information on the college’s website regarding private loans. This
will require additional research by the student and family as you’ll be working with a private lender
exclusively.

When considering these options be sure to budget for the full academic year, meaning the fall and spring
terms. The college bills each semester but this budgeting works well so you’re fully prepared for the year
ahead!

The college has partnered with Flywire to assist our international student population in making their
tuition payments, sending payment directly to the college from the bank of their home.

Lastly, Outside scholarships are a great resource to support in paying for college expenses, Scholarship
America helps connect student with scholarships that fit your demographic, this information can be
found both on the student portal, My.Marist.edu and the Student financial Services website.

Be sure to review the important dates and information made available on the My.marist.edu Student
portal. It’s important to keep in tune with this platform and be sure to check your student email inbox at
least once a day!

It’s been a pleasure being a part of your Orientation experience! Once you’re on campus be sure to visit
our office in Donnelly 200, in the event you need support or guidance.
