Life of Rizal
Rizal and his family. He was warned by others not to return home as his life is at sakes.
1888- The tension between tenants and Dominican friar because of unpaid taxes and injustices on
Calamba state, which was filed to higher courts, endangered life of Rizal.
1892- Rizal returned to the Philippines. While he was in Europe, he joined a movement, Filipino
League. As well in Spain, La Solidaridad, where they publish newspaper to demand reforms. This was
then banned.
1896- The Katipunan, founded by Andres Bonifacio, started a revolution againstSpain. This was
supported by Rizal. This is also one of the reasons that caused forRizal to be arrested

He was exiled to Dapitan, Mindanao, for four years after returning from Europe.
He walked calmly to his death at dawn on December 30, 1896, to a field by Manila Bay called
Bagumbayan, later renamed Luneta for its crescent shape.
An international conference on Rizal in 1997 took place in Jakarta to give tribute to a man described
by Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as “the pride of the Malay race,” a reference to
the historical ethnic origins of many Filipinos.

On August 30, 1896, governor Ramon Blanco sent a letter of recommendation to the Minister of war
stating that Rizal had shown exceptional conduct during his stay in Dapitan and that he had no
connection with the Philippines revolution.
