The Spiritual Significance Of Base Metals In Scripture -Immature Babes In

Copper's Negative Application - The Best Flesh Has To Offer - The

Judgment Of The Flesh - B
The very best that the flesh or the carnal mind has to offer is death.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.

All the tools of service to the court of the tabernacle were made of brass.

Exo 38:3 And he made all the vessels of the altar, the pots, and the shovels, and
the basons, [and] the fleshhooks, and the firepans: all the vessels thereof made he
[of] brass.

Exo 39:39 The brasen altar, and his grate of brass, his staves, and all his vessels,
the laver and his foot,

Only the five sockets in the threshold of the five pillars of the door of the tabernacle
were made of copper. Every thing else concerned with the tabernacle proper was of
silver and gold.

Brass typifies judgment of the flesh

The 'earth' is called brass:

Lev 26:14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these
commandments;
Lev 26:15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments,
so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:
Lev 26:16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror,
consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause
sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
Lev 26:17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your
enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none
pursueth you.
Lev 26:18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you
seven times more for your sins.
Lev 26:19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as
iron, and your earth as brass:

A serpent of brass brings healing to Israel when Israel's judgment is to be

bitten by fiery serpents???
Num 21:4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to
compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged
because of the way.
Num 21:5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have
ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread,
neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
Num 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery [8134 - saraph] serpents [5175
-nachash] among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel
died.
Num 21:7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we
have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take
away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
Num 21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent [seraph -
8314], and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is
bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
Num 21:9 And Moses made a serpent [5175 - nachash] of brass, and put it
upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man,
when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

Moses is told to make a "seraph," so he makes a "nachash," a serpent, of copper.

What do you suppose this whole story about Israels lack of faith, Christ's sending
fiery serpents among them, and a brazen serpent being looked upon to heal them is
all about? At the risk of being accused of blaspheming the name of Christ, I am
going to quote Christ:

Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must
the Son of man be lifted up:
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal
life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the
world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not
is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.

"When he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived." Why did not Christ tell Moses to
make a brazen lamb? Why a serpent? Those who were bitten by the fiery serpent
and never saw the serpent of brass died, and any who do not see Christ in a body
of sinful flesh do not know Him.

Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not
is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.
"Believeth on" who? Believeth on a 'silver lamb' to give him life after the bite of the
serpent? Or believe on a copper serpent? Which is it?
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not
is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.

So long as you do not see any difference between a sin and a trespass offering, you
do not know the Christ who came in a body of "sinful flesh." His flesh was "the
same... flesh and blood as the children, the seed of Abraham... not the nature of
angels." It was "sinful flesh." That is the significance of the copper serpent as
opposed to the innocent, vulnerable and helpless lamb.

If 'being sin without sinning' is laughable and ridiculous to you, then you do not
believe that Christ was "the same... sinful flesh and blood" as are we. Your Christ is
"another Jesus," who could never under any circumstance be typified by a copper
serpent:

Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood,
he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he
might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject
to bondage.
Heb 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on
[him] the seed of Abraham.
Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto [his] brethren,
that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things [pertaining] to God, to
make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
Heb 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour
them that are tempted.

What is "flesh?

Jer 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the
potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make
it.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive
me.

Mar 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none
good but one, that is, God.

Rom 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing:
for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God
sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned
sin in the flesh:

Why would Christ refer Nicodemus to the raising up of a serpent of brass as a type
of His crucifixion? Why did not God have Moses to make a brazen lamb instead of a
brazen serpent? Here is why:

Isa 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Isa 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he
covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
Isa 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD
of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory.
Isa 6:4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the
house was filled with smoke.
Isa 6:5 Then said I, Woe [is] me! for I am undone; because I [am] a man of unclean
lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen
the King, the LORD of hosts.
Isa 6:6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand,
which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
Isa 6:7 And he [the firey serpent] laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath
touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Isa 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will
go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isa 6:9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand
not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

Rev 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they
were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Are these "fiery serpents" with "six wings crying Holy, Holy, Holy, about the Lord
sitting upon a throne," something different from the four beasts around the throne
of God in Revelation 4:8? If you believe that the lion of the tribe of Judah is
something different from the "lamb slain from the foundation of the world," then
these seraphims are different from the four beasts. But if the Lion Of The Tribe Of
Judah is the same as the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, then these
are but two symbols for the same thing. What is that thing which is so closely
associated with the serpent and the beast and with the number six?

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he
him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Gen 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which
[is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree
yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Gen 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every
thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein [there is] life, [I have given] every
green herb for meat: and it was so.
Gen 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very
good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

So the number six, has by God's decree, forever been associated with man, the
crowning achievement of God's sixth day of creation.

Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has a mind calculate the number of the wild
beast, for it is the number of mankind, and its number is six hundred sixty-six."
(CLV)

(EMTV) Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding calculate the number of the
beast, for it is the number of man--his number is 666.

God want us to forever remember that our origins are from the dust of this earth,
from brazen sinful flesh. But He also wants us to know that the same is true for the
Captain of our salvation:

Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse
for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree:

Rev 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty
elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden
vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and
to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by
thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall
reign on the earth.
Who "reigns on earth?"

Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to
him will I give power over the nations:
Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter
shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
The seraphim, the four beasts and the four and twenty elders, are all one and the
same thing. They are all the "overcomers" who will be "given power over the
nations, and rule them with a rod of iron."

Isa 14:29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee
is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit
shall be a fiery [seraph] flying serpent [seraph].

Isa 30:6 The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and
anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying
serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their
treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them. [The
words 'fiery' and 'serpent' are both 'saraph']

What are "the beasts of the south?"

Deu 8:9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack
any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest
dig brass.
Deu 8:10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy
God for the good land which he hath given thee.
Deu 8:11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his
commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this
day:
Deu 8:12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and
dwelt therein;
Deu 8:13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is
multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
Deu 8:14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which
brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
Deu 8:15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein
were fiery [saraphs] serpents [nachash], and scorpions, and drought, where
there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
Deu 8:16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers
knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do
thee good at thy latter end;
Deu 8:17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand
hath gotten me this wealth.
Deu 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth
thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he
sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Deu 8:19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after
other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye
shall surely perish.
The "beasts of the south" have to do with our time in "that great and terrible
wilderness wherein were fiery serpents and scorpions and drought..."

The kingdoms of the flesh are kingdoms of brass

'Mountains,' in scripture, are kingdoms that rule over our flesh:

Zec 6:1 And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came
four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were
mountains of brass.

These four chariots are pulled by four strong differently colored horses. They are the
first four seals opened up to us as we are looking behind us and seeing how Christ
has been judging us: The four horses "come out from between two mountains of
brass." These judgments are upon the kingdoms and rulers (mountains), and the
power, and strength (horses) of our flesh

Conclusion
It should be clear that the copper, so common to the court of the tabernacle, and all
of the implements and tools needed for those who cannot enter the tabernacle, is a
type of our flesh when we are at this stage of our walk. All flesh is to be judged and
found unworthy to stand before God.

But it should also be clear, in light of the copper serpent, that this copper serpent
typifies "the same flesh and blood of the seed of Abraham... the same flesh and
blood as the children... the same flesh and blood" in which Christ came to this
earth. Look on that brazen serpent after being bitten by the poisonous doctrines of
the serpent and you will live. If you look on any thing other than what is symbolized
by that brazen serpent and you will die. If your savior has "the nature of angels," he
is not a "serpent of brass" and is not he Christ of the Bible.

Even the flesh of Christ, the very best that flesh has to offer, is still but the best of
the base metals which cannot enter into the tabernacle or into the kingdom of God:

1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood [typified by copper]
cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit
incorruption.

What this all tells us is the the revelation of Jesus Christ begins in Genesis 1:1 and
ends at Revelation 22:21. It all reveals Christ, even the serpent is part of that
revelation.
