3.0 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION (Examples)

(a) Effect of flow rate

In this experiment, the effect of the flow rate on the separation of methyl ester
compounds was studied by injecting the standard mixture at a constant temperature
(210C) using different flow rates (30, 50 and 70) cm sec-1. Figure 1, 2 and 3 show the
chromatogram of standard mixture methyl ester compounds at flow rate of 30 cm sec-
1 , 50 cm sec-1 , and 70 cm sec-1, respectively.

Note:
2 1. Scan/cut and attach the
1 4 chromatogram (choose the
3 best) for different
5 parameters.
2. Set x-axis (time)

3=methyl palmitate, 4=methyl stearate and methyl linoleate separated at
temperature of 210C and flow rate of 30 cm sec-1 .

Tabulate your Rs calculation in the form of table. Show one example of calculation
using appropriate formula. (Label the information as Table 1). Or the students can
present their own table according to their creativity.
