Unit 16 Engineering Drawing for

Technicians 20792C Line
Command
Task 2 (This provides evidence for P7)

Prepare a template of a standardised A3 sheet using a range of commands on a CAD system and
save to file. Print off screen shots to show how it was constructed.

Firstly I had to research what the

measurements were for an A3 sheet which is
297mm x 420mm.So I first had to construct a
rectangle by using the Line command. I also had
to put it in Ortho Mode so that all the lines I
used were straight and smooth, so there was
no ridges.

Ortho
Mode

After making the rectangle 297mm x 420mm I next

made the border of inside the rectangle, the
measurements for these were 10mm from each side
of the rectangle. And I used the same commands
which were the Line command and Ortho Mode.

Next I had to create the title blocks from the border,

the measurements for these were 6mm up from the
border, then another 4mm up, I connected the lines
to the end of the border. Again I used the same
commands which were the Line command and
Ortho Mode.

This is the final template of the A3 sheet I did on CAD system. This is the exact replica of the one
which I hand draw.

To save the A3 template into my documents I

click the left top corner of the CAD system and it
says “Save As”.

After clicking “Save As” the system will tell you to name your
CAD drawing I will save it as “A3 Template”, I will then
choose a destination in the system to save my CAD drawing
in, and I will save it in “My Documents”.
