1. Briefly state the salient features of a cargo ship Safety Equipment Certificate (SEQ), and
preparation to be made for survey on board a ship. Who issues the SEQ certificates for vessels of
Indian Registry?
2. State the various documents pertaining to a crude oil tanker that a port state control officer would
ask for during PSC inspection. Also list important safety item which he may like to see.

3. For an ISM Certification explain the key clauses which are required to be complied with obtaining
Interim DOC. State the responsibility of a 2nd Engineer with respect to satisfactory implementation
of SMS on board ship.

4. Discuss the responsibilities under ILO’s Maritime Labour Convention 2006

b) Explain how as a Senior Engineer you would implement the regulations for controlling
and monitoring of minimum hours of rest for watch keepers
c) What type of specific shipboard familiarization is required to be given to a seafarer new to a
particular type of vessel?
7. With respect to MARPOL 73/78 Annex –II Noxious liquid chemicals are divided into categories
a) State the number of Categories and what does each category signfy.
b) State the requirements of Procedures and Arrangements Manual and what information is
available.
