1) What are the Stainer’s essential coaching questions that should be asked
from employees and what are their importance? Michael Stanier is the author
of many books about coaching, he gave in his book "The coaching habits" follow-
ing advice: Tell less and ask more.
Stanier argues that coaches can offer more value by asking essential questions
rather than giving advice, as their advice may not be as good as they think. Ac-
cording to him, the most effective coaching question in the world comprises of
three words - "What else?" By asking this question, coaches can foster wisdom,
insight, self-awareness, and possibilities. Stanier also recommends asking other
essential coaching questions, such as "What's on your mind?", "What's the real
challenge here for you?", "What do you want?", "How can I help?", "If you are
saying yes to this, what are you saying no to?" and "What was most useful to
you?" By using these questions, coaches can facilitate two-way communication,
which can empower team members, increase engagement, and improve reten-
tion. Team members will feel they have a say in the team's direction, as well as
how it relates to the company's overall goals.
