6- A three-phase rectifier is supplied by a 480-V rms line-to-line 60-Hz source. The
load is a 50-Ω resistor. Determine (a) the average load current, (b) the rms load current, (c)
the rms source current, and (d) the power factor. Verify the results using PSIM simulation
program.
7- A three-phase rectifier is supplied by a 240-V rms line-to-line 60-Hz source. The load is an
80- Ω resistor. Determine (a) the average load current, (b) the rms load current, (c) the rms
source current, and (d) the power factor. Draw all wave forms.
8- A four identical resistive loads are supplied from four uncontrolled rectifier circuits, single
phase half wave, single phase full wave, three phase half wave, and three phase full wave.
Compare among the performance of the four rectifiers in term of: ripple factor, form factor,
efficiency of rectification, rating of used diodes, and input power factor. Assuming that the
magnitude of phase voltages are equals in the four rectifier circuits.
9- A three-pulse controlled rectifier is connected to a 3 phase, 4 wire, 220 V, 60 Hz source. If the
load highly inductive load such that the output current is 20 A. for a firing angle α =30ᵒ, find:
a- The average load voltage, average source current, and average thyristor
current
b- The rms currents of source and thyristor
c- Draw the waveforms of output voltage, output current, thyristor current , and
voltage.
10- Repeat the problem (1) if the firing angle α =90ᵒ
11- A three-phase, half-wave, controlled rectifier bridge circuit is supplied from an ideal three-
phase source of 415 V, 50 Hz. The load consists of a resistor R =75 Ω in series with a high
inductance filter. Calculate the average values of the load current and the supply current at
α = 0 °, 30°, and 60°. Verify the results using PSIM simulation program.
