SUBJECT - MATHEMATICS

Maximum Marks: 80
Time Allowed: Three Hours
[Candidates are allowed an additional 15 minutes only reading the paper.
They must NOT start writing during this time.]
The Question Paper consists of three Sections A, B and C.
Candidates are required to attempt all questions from Section A and all questions
EITHER from Section B OR Section C.
Section A: Internal choice has been provided in two questions of two marks each, two
questions of four marks each and two questions of six marks each.
Section B: Internal choice has been provided in one questions of two marks and one
questions of our marks.
Section C: Internal choice has been provided in one questions of two marks and one
question of four marks.
All working, including rough work, should be done on the same sheet as, and adjacent to
the rest of the answer.
The intended marks for questions or parts of questions are given in brackets [ ].
Mathematical tables and graph papers are provided.

picnic is 0.9. What is the probability that the group of friends will have a
decent picnic on that particular day?

cost of the stainless steel sheet required for construction is ₹60,000 per
square meter. Find the dimensions of the tank that will minimise the cost
of the stainless-steel sheet and determine the minimum cost.

radius and the height of the cylinder so that the total surface area is
minimum.

From an urn containing 5 white and 5 black balls, 5 balls are transferred at
random into an empty second urn from which one ball is drawn and it is found to
be white.
E₀, E₁, E₂, E₃, E₄, E₅ are events defined as follows:
E₀: ‘5 black balls drawn from the first urn’
E₁ : ‘1 white and 4 black balls drawn from the first urn’
E₂ : ‘2 white and 3 black balls drawn from the first urn’
E₃ : ‘3 White and 2 black balls drawn from the first urn’

(i) What are the values of P(E₀) and P(E₅)? Are they equal? Justify.
(ii) How much times is P(E₁) of P (E₅)?
(iii) What is the probability that all balls transferred from the first urn to the

In sub-parts (i) and (ii) choose the correct options and in sub-parts (iii) to (v), answer
the questions as instructed.
(i) The revenue function of a monopolist is given by R(x) = 120𝑥 2 + 300𝑥 − 𝑥.
Then the average revenue function AR(x) at x = 10 will be:

(ii) If r = 0, then regression lines are :
(a) perpendicular to each other.
(b) parallel to the axes.

iii) If fixed cost of a new product is ₹18000 and the variable cost is ₹ 550
per unit and p(x) = 4000 – 150x, then find the break – even points.
iv) The average cost function (AC) of a medicine producing factory is given by:

v) If the profit function is maximum then what should be the relation between

(i) The demand function for a new product introduced by a company is
x = (30000 -1500p), Where ‘p’ is the price per unit and ‘x’ is the number of
unit demanded. The fixed cost for the product is ₹26000 and the per unit
variable cost is ₹8. What price the company should charge per unit to
obtain the maximum profit? Also find the number of units sold at this price.

x is the number of units produced. The price at which each unit can be

The two lines of regressions are x + 2y – 5 = 0 and 2x + 3y – 8 = 0 and the variance
of x is 12. Find the variance of y and the coefficient of correlation.

(i) Solve the following LLP graphically :
Maximize: Z = 30x + 40y ,
Subject to the constraints, x + y ≤ 6, 2x +3y ≤ 14,
x, y ≥ 0.
Also find the maximum value of Z.
Or

(ii) Two tailors P and Q earn ₹150 and ₹ 200 per day respectively.
P can stitch 6 shirts and 4 trousers a day, While Q can stitch 10 shirts
and 4 trousers per day. How many days should each work to produce at
least 60 shirts and 32 trousers? Formulate this problem as a L.P.P and
solve it graphically.
