MAGAZINE ARTICLE STARTERS

1. Jason Roy went to dinner with his parents at around 8 p.m. one Wednesday in March of
2015. He split a pizza, topped with tomatoes and peppers, with his mom. Then he set out for
the gym and hopped on the elliptical. But about a half-hour into the workout, he started
feeling weird. “My eyes were watering, I was having trouble breathing,” he says. “In another
five minutes I was struggling to breathe. I looked behind me into the mirror, and my eyes
were swollen—every part of my face was swollen.”

5. As technology seeps into the life of today's teens, many begin to question how healthy

7. School days should be a happy time in a young person’s life. What can make people’s life a
misery during this time, then? In my opinion, there is one word which answers this question –
bullying.

8. Think of peer pressure as a recipe.

Let’s say one is cooking macaroni and cheese.
If a friend misreads the directions, one could end up with gross macaroni or a landslide of
boiling water spilling over the side of the pot and onto the new slippery kitchen floor.
But if another friend interjects and says to stop boiling the water at the right time, the meal
has a better chance of not ending up a soggy mess on the floor.
Peer pressure, in a way, is similar. If a friend misguides you, there could be severe
consequences. On the other hand, if a friend convinces one to stop boiling the water, or in
reality do something fun or social, the results could be rewarding, similar to a warm bowl of
delicious macaroni and cheese.
9. It is not long until schools across the country will put up their ‘Quiet! Exam in Progress’
signs. And with it comes the inevitable exam stress and worry.

10. How much of your life are you prepared to spend at work? Is it really worth working into
