Relocation Survey
Exercise No. 4
GEng 123n – Property
Surveys

Name: Jo-ana Marie R. Balanza Date Performed:

Lab Schedule: TTh 7:00-10:00 Date Submitted:

I. INTRODUCTION

The relocation survey shall be made using the bearings, distances, and area stated in the
approved survey or written in the lease contract when determining corners or re-setting boundary lines
of approved surveys. Many land use laws, regulations, and encumbrances can be avoided by knowing
the exact boundaries of the land. It also contains specific credentials for established land boundaries. As
a land consultant, it is one of the many important services provided by a licensed surveyor.

II. OBJECTIVE

• To re-established the lost corner/s of a certain lots

III. INSTRUMENTS AND ACCESSORIES

• Total Station
• Steel Tape
• Prism with Pole
• Cylindrical concrete monuments
• Concrete Nails.

IV. PROCEDURE

The instructor assigned a significant amount of information with technical descriptions, and an
existing point/corner was also marked on the ground. The students studied the data provided to them
and devised a reconnaissance survey strategy to reduce the number of corners. The students plotted
and drew the lot in a white folder, labeling the bearings, azimuths, and distances of each line, as well
as the corresponding corners and true coordinates. The given TP coordinates were used to calculate
the true coordinates.
The instrument was set up and leveled, with the compass oriented to the assumed orientation of
180° north. The students took side shots of the lot's existing three corners and computed.

V. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Table 1 showed the technical description of lot 5, and Table 2 presents the result of true
coordinates of each corner of the lot.

VI. CONCLUSION

The purpose of a relocation survey is to determine the actual boundaries, metes, and locations,
particularly for real estate. Encroachment is a common problem in surveying; contact a licensed
surveyor immediately to resolve the issue. If requested, prepare a plan of the resurveyed boundaries.
The lost corners were determined by computing the data shown above; the SS2-SS3 is equivalent to
lines 1-3, and the distance difference is less than 30 cm, which is allowable in agricultural land
standards.
