How to reset ThinkSystem System Manager local admin

password starting with 11.40.2 code


Requirements
Console cable – Connection 115200-8-N-1.

Description
This article describes the steps to reset the local admin user password for ThinkSystem System Manager. This
applies mainly to systems running 11.40.2 or later.

Starting with 11.40.2, the Diag and EOS user passwords will be automatically set to the local admin password due
to security concerns.

If the ThinkSystem System Manager admin node is not set or was reset, the diag/eos accounts will use the default
shell password.

Solution
Perform the following steps to reset the storage array admin password:
1. Connect to either controller shell using Serial. Please note that the SPRI "Serial Port Recovery Interface"
interface is not available via SSH
2. Login using SPRI 'Serial Port Recovery Interface' account.
Username: spri
Password SPRIentry
eos-a login: spri
Password:
Once logged in, user will see the Service Interface Main Menu. Select option 3 to reset the admin password, then Y
to confirm.

• Type Q to exit from the SPRI menu and return to the main login prompt.
