Red Lobster

This document outlines the general responsibilities and fundamental functions of a

position at Red Lobster, encompassing aspects like skills, qualifications, and experience, as

recommended by Heathfield (2019). Recognizing that previous job descriptions at Red Lobster

lacked the enthusiasm and creativity necessary for the current workforce, the new approach

emphasizes articulating the purpose and significance of the role. Prospective employees are

encouraged to convey their understanding of the company's importance in the updated job

description.

The Targeted Recruitment Process

The restaurant requires individuals who are personally invested in actualizing their roles.

I propose that Red Lobster promotes its job openings through a third-party employment agency

to ensure a thorough selection process and the recruitment of candidates from diverse

backgrounds.

The initial phase of my recruitment strategy involves devising a plan for attracting the

most qualified candidates for the position. Given that the job analysis is complete, my first step is

exploring external recruitment options. As mentioned, I plan to utilize both recruitment agencies

and online platforms.

I advocating for the use of a recruitment agency because the rationale behind this choice

is to circumvent bureaucratic processes in the hiring procedure. An employment agency serves as

a valuable talent source for the company, and for job seekers, it can serve as a gateway to

securing full-time employment.

Strategies For Reaching Out To Passive Job Applicants

In the job search process, passive candidates differ from active ones. While an active

candidate actively seeks new job opportunities and approaches employers, a passive candidate is

not actively pursuing employment, as noted by Belyh (2016).

On the internet, there is a wealth of potential passive candidates, and all that's required is

a well-crafted advertising strategy to capture their interest and encourage them to apply and join

the team. I will create an announcement designed to grab their attention, highlighting the benefits

and compensation they stand to gain upon employment. Monetary incentives are universally

recognized as motivating factors for individuals seeking employment.

Strategy 1: Utilizing an organic networking approach through social media

This involves concentrating on establishing authentic connections with passive job

seekers. Instead of employing the online tactic of actively pursuing passive candidates, the focus

is on converting promising individuals from a passive stance to a more proactive one. A key

element of this strategy is to enhance job satisfaction among current employees, and one

effective method is to implement worker referral systems that leverage personal networks for

recruitment purposes. Social networks, particularly platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook, serve

as ideal organic networks. Engaging in these networks not only helps build a positive employer

image but also allows for a comprehensive assessment of potential candidates (Belyh, 2016).

Strategy 2: Employing an organic networking strategy through network providers

For recruiters, this implies the possibility of reaching passive job seekers by connecting

with mobile networks. Recognizing that passive candidates may not be actively browsing
4

recruitment pages or business websites on their current employers' devices, the mobile phone

becomes a crucial means of communication with potential employees. Consequently, a business

website needs to be mobile-friendly, enabling interaction with passive job seekers through

smartphones. This includes ensuring that all contact forms, setup forms, and file uploads are

accessible via mobile devices (Belyh, 2016).

Strategies For Reaching A Culturally Diverse Group Of Candidates

To ascertain the position in alignment with the existing or anticipated requirements of the

division, a specific identification process is necessary, especially when aiming to tap into a

culturally diverse pool of candidates. For instance, if a particular branch of Red Lobster

discovers that a significant number of Spanish-speaking Latin families frequent its establishment,

the preference would be for candidates possessing bilingual or multilingual capabilities over

those proficient in only one language. A targeted strategy to attract a culturally diverse range of

candidates involves utilizing online advertising methods.

Recommendations For How To Pre-Screen Candidates To Ensure That The People

Brought In For Interviews Are The Best Possible Fit

After a comprehensive review of all qualifications, candidates meeting the criteria can be

invited for an interview. During this stage, the HR department can swiftly assess whether the

candidate effectively represents themselves. If the applicant demonstrates competence,

professionalism, and sophistication, they are likely to be given priority over those who do not

exhibit a similar level of professionalism in their presentation. Emphasizing professionalism, a

dress code is imperative. As the saying goes, "dress for the job you want, not the job you have,"

indicating that candidates willing to dress appropriately signal their commitment and are more

likely to present themselves in an even more polished manner upon hire (Steele, 2014).

Conclusion

Finally, Red Lobster's Restaurant Manager recruitment process incorporates a complete

approach that combines classic and creative tactics. The organization intends to attract a varied

pool of eligible individuals by utilizing organic networking on social media, reaching out to

passive applicants, and engaging external recruitment agencies. Emphasizing cultural awareness

and language fluency enables compatibility with the specific needs of the business. Beyond the

initial search, the recruitment process includes the drafting of engaging job descriptions and

effective advertising to depict Red Lobster as a family-oriented workplace. Pre-screening

candidates based on qualifications and professionalism guarantees that individuals invited for

interviews not only meet the job requirements but also have the interpersonal skills necessary for

success in the post. Red Lobster's recruitment strategy, in general, combines strategic planning,
6

cultural understanding, effective communication, and thorough pre-screening to create a

cohesive workforce that contributes to a good and vibrant work environment.
