Product Description:
The RAPID VARIO-FS metal separator is used to inspect bulk

goods under free-fall conditions. It detects all magnetic and non-
magnetic metal contaminations (steel, stainless steel, aluminium)
– even when enclosed in the product. Metal contaminations are
rejected through the “Quick Flap” reject unit.
The RAPID VARIO-FS is used mainly in industries with low hygiene

applications.

The RAPID 4000-FS metal separator is used to inspect bulk goods

under free-fall conditions. It detects all magnetic and non-magne-
tic metal contaminations (steel, stainless steel, aluminium) – even
when enclosed in the product. Metal contaminations are rejected
through the “Quick Flap” reject unit.
The RAPID 4000-FS is used mainly in industries with low hygiene

applications.

This magnetic separation system is predominantly
used for the removal of ferrous contaminations
from fibrous products and materials that tend to
‚bridging’. Also for higher throughput capacities
and for pressurized process lines inline chute
magnets prove as good separation result. Particu-
larly for the removal of tramp iron e. g. bolts, nuts,
washers, a.s.o. this magnet system is suitable.
But also smaller particles are attracted by the
strong and deep magnetic flux field. For the verti-
cal installation S+S offers a wide range of unit

This type is mainly used to separate larger tramp
iron from the product flow.
Inline Chute Magnet PRMN: (Neodymium

version)
If it is necessary to remove even fine particles
from the product flow S+S supplies this system
with rare earth neodymium magnets. The energy
product of these magnets is more than ten times
higher than from conventional ferrite material.
Version: PRMN AUTO CLEAN
Both versions of inline chute magnets can op-
tional be supplied with intermediate cleaning
plates. This allows a quick and easy removal of all
attracted contamination from the magnetic pack.
Catchment areas on these cleaning plates give
the attracted particles sanctuary from being
knocked off by following material.

PNEUMAG inline magnet
for pneumatic conveying lines
g Application
This high intensity magnetic separator is mainly
designed to be installed into pneumatic conveying
lines with material speeds up to 25m/s. The
PNEUMAG system will be of great interest to the
food and pharmaceutical industries with products
like flour, sugar, starch, pharmaceutical drugs and
other powders and granulates.
The special housing design allows the product to
pass through the unit in both directions.
The magnetic separator can be supplied with
various flanges to suit the customer’s require-
ments.
By means of the leading magnetic performance
(9000 gauss on the tube surface) and the offset
configuration of the separator rods the PNEUMAG
removes even small ferrous and stainless steel
particles.
The entire unit is manufactured using 316 grade
ST/ST with a polished finish (Ra=1,2µm). For the
pharmaceutical industry S+S can supply a im-
proved surface treatment with Ra=0,6µm.
According to standard the unit is supplied with
the EASY CLEAN facility which allows a quick
and easy cleaning.
To secure the system against unauthorized open-
ing S+S delivers the PNEUMAG including a anti
tamper proof guard with padlock.
All systems are tested and certified to operate at
+/-1 bar pressure. In addition units to operate at
pressures up to +/-5 bar are available upon re-
quest.

Plate magnet PM
g Application
Plate magnets are used for the separation of
tramp iron to protect crushers, screens and other
plant machinery. These types of magnetic separa-
tors generate a deep magnetic flux field and are
generally installed above conveying systems or
underneath chutes. By the wide range of standard
sizes the plate magnets can be equipped to most
applications. But S+S also supplies customized
unit sizes to fit exact into existing process lines.
All types of plate magnets are supplied with
tapped wholes at the rear side for installation and
adjustment.
Version: PMN (underflow version) g Performance characteristics

Plate Magnet PMF (Ferrite version):
These types are equipped with strong ferrite
magnets, which generate a strong and deep
magnetic flux field. The version PMF is housed in
a wear-resistant Stainless Steel housing (material
304) with a mild steel back plate.
Plate Magnet PMN (Neodymium version):

Plate magnets with rare earth neodymium mag-
nets (NdFeB) show a much higher magnetic flux
field and are used e. g. for the separation of even
small ferrous contaminations. The energy product
of these types is more than ten times higher than
conventional ferrite material.
In order to make cleaning of plate magnets easier

Plate Magnet PMTEX (Textile Industry):

This type is specially designed for applications in
the textile industry. The magnets are available in
lengths up to 6 meters, and a separate carrier
profile ensures that the system can be installed
very close to the product without bending.

OM overband magnet
g Application
To protect crushers, hammer mills and other
recycling machinery from damage caused by
tramp iron parts the overband magnets are a
often used separation equipment. For a thorough
removing of ferrous contaminations the magnet is
placed above the flat or trough conveyor either
across or in-line. Overband magnets are self
cleaning separation systems and can therefore be
used for continuous product flows.
The magnetic pack is protected by a wear-
resistant stainless and non-magnetic steel plate.
All OM are equipped with belt guards on both
sides to prevent belt damage due to entrapment of
steel between magnet and belt. Furthermore a
electric drive, a control unit and eye bolts are to be

The MAGBOX MXP inline magnet as a standard is equipped

with two neodymium magnet grids that are positioned in
staggered arrangement one above the other to achieve
a maximum level of separation.
Typical fields of application:
The MAGBOX MXP inline magnet primarily is used in (existing)

pipeline systems for the efficient separation of fine and finest
ferrous metal contaminations from powdery and grainy bulk
materials. The removable magnet part is designed with guides to facilitate
the cleaning process.
Performance and function features:
MAGBOX MXP inline magnets are integrated in pipelines

When passing the hopper magnet the ferrous particles are

attracked and separated from the bulk material. A inspec-
tion of the hopper magnet on a regular basis is recommen-
ded in order to avoid that ferrous particles are released
from a oversaturated magnet. Take the unit out of the
hopper and remove attracted ferrous particles manually.

Sturdy design of circular or square hopper magnets. With
a rod diameter of 32 mm and a very big active area for

This ensures the best possible separation result with this

With a magnetic force of 6 000 gauss at the effective surface,

ferromagnetic particles are reliably separated, which reduces
costly repair work and system downtimes.
The EXTRACTOR-J inline magnet was developed specifically for

applications in the plastics industry. It is designed for inspecting
different granulates up to a grain size of 8-10 mm at a tempera-
ture of up to 80° C in standing or slow-moving material columns.
The EXTRACTOR-J magnet system is equipped with three

magnet rods in Neodymium version which are arranged in a
triangular matrix to ensure best possible contact between
product and magnet. Its outstanding ease of handling and
cleaning are further positive features of this magnet separator.
A low installation height (165 mm) and customer-specific connec-
tion dimensions facilitate retrofitting.
With its special design the EXTRACTOR-J does not allow any
depositing of plastic granulate. The inline magnet EXTRACTOR-J separates Fe parts, e.g., after cyclone.
After the magnet matrix has been removed, the stainless steel tubes can be pulled
off from the magnet cores – EASY CLEAN.

Function:
This system is suitable for a continuous separation of tramp iron

and midsized ferrous contami-nation from various dry bulk materi-
als. A adjust-able 180° magnetic section inside the rotating drum
shell attracts the ferrous contaminants and rotates them out of
the material flow. After leaving the terminated magnetic field
all separated particles fall off the system (see functional chart).
Non-ferrous materials pass the drum separator unaffected. A di-
verter shield should be installed to allow a efficient separation of
clean product and contamination.
All drum separators are supplied with bearings.

In the plastics industry magnets frequently are used for the separation of ferrous
metals. Exactly matched to the respective material types, production stages, and
conveyor systems (free-fall sections, pipelines), magnets are an efficient stand-alone
solution or a reasonable supplement to inductive metal detectors and separators.
