What is the most prevalent bacterial illness in children?

Prevalent, meaning ano yung pinaka common na sakit sa mga bata. Ang pinaka common na
sakit sa mga bata ay ang urinary tract infection or ang tinatawag natin na uti.

WHAT IS URINARY TRACT INFECTION?

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of the urinary system. The urinary
system includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Most infections involve the lower
urinary tract the bladder and the urethra. or in short
A UTI is when bacteria gets into your urine and travels up to your bladder.

Ang UTI ay common infection na nangyayari pag ang bacteria often na galing sa skin or
rectum.. Ang infection ay nangyayari kapag ang germs ay pumasok sa urethra at nag travel ito
pataas ng bladder, ureters, and kidneys.

2 TYPES OF UTI

UPPER UTI - mainly refers to the kidneys and the tubes that lead from the kidney into the
urinary bladder – these tubes are called the ureters
LOWER UTI - refers to the inflammation and infection of the bladder and the urethra, which is
the tube that leads from the bladder, enabling urine to exit the body. Usually ito yung nakukuha
ng mga babae

WHY ARE UTIs MORE COMMON IN CHILDREN?

SO, mas common ang uti sa mga bata kase minsan diba ang mga bata hindi lagi nag ccr or
minsan naman nag pipigil ng ihi. Or minsan naman maunti uminom ng tubig. Sa bata, mas
mataas ang risk mag ka infection ang mga babae kesa sa mga lalake kase ang baba ay maikli
lang ang urethra. Madali din mahawaan ang batang lalake lalo na kung hindi pa ito tuli.

Voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG)- ito ay isang type ng xray yung pinapasukan ng catheter na
makakapag drain ng ihi sa bladder palabas ng body.

Tell your child to empty his or her bladder fully when urinating
Teach girls to wipe from the front to back after going to the bathroom
Make your child doesn’t get constipated

how severe the condition is. Treatment may include:

Antibiotic medicine

A heating pad or medicines to relieve pain

Drinking plenty of water
