2 in 1 User Guide Understanding how the Lishi 2 in 1 tools interact with the locks when Picking and Decoding Written, photographed and researched by ... Tony Audsley Introduction I would like to thank you for purchasing my book, Volume 2 of “Lishi 2 in 1 User Guide” and hope that you find it helpful and informative. ‘As an approved Genuine Lishi Distributor and Trainer, I found it necessary to practice and become totally conversant with the 2 in 1 tools, and after working with these tools and locks for many many hours, I found there were still lots of questions that needed to be answered. Some locks just didn't seem to make sense when trying to pick and decode with the 2 in 1 tool, so I decided to pull to pieces some of the locks AND I was very surprised with what I found, it was this that prompted me to take photos of my findings and start to write this book. The book outlines in detail how the tool interacts with the lock, where the wafers are and where the wafers aren't and which way they move and which lever on the tool moves which wafer. By knowing which wafers are in the lock and which lever on the tool makes it move, it is much easier to not only use the tools, but to enable you to find the code and the remaining (missing) cuts ... which is the whole purpose of using the tool in the first place (except when you just want to pick and open the lock) Tse Instacode to fill in any gaps or missing spaces/wafers and to check and see if my readings give a genuine code, this works most of the time, BUT just some- times someone has recoded the locks and haven't done a legitimate code. T have included the “grid templates” for you to scan/photocopy and print as T believe it's a great idea to use the templates when picking or decoding a lock as it will remind you which (if any) wafers are NOT in the lock and which ones to pick/ decode AND you need somewhere to write down the numbers anyway. Based on my experiences using the tools, | have decided to give a “star” rating on each tool ... as found it For instance, | found by far the easiest 2 in 1 tool to use was the CY24 (Dodge, Chrysler) and the hardest tool to use was the HU64 (Mercedes) Chrysler CY24 | would rate at .. Easiest keith Mercedes HU64 | would rate at .. Hardest kindy ese PLEASE BEARIN MIND... These are ALL my own opinions and judgments of the tools and may not be the opinions of others and you may find certain tools (and locks) easier to pick and decode than others. Copyright Tony Audsley 2011 © aR oR THE most important thing to remember when picking locks with the 2 in 1 tool is: If it moves ... leave it alone Ill This means ... if the wafer you are touching with the feeler on the tip of the lever arm feels springy or (bouncing) then leave it alone and come back to it. Tf the wafer is solid to feel with the lever arm, then it needs to be picked. You will find that once you have picked the solid wafers, the ones that were previously springy, may now be solid and need to be picked. Also remember that when the wafer has been picked, it will now feel springy, if it does not, then either ... you haven't picked it far enough OR you have over picked it and it is now trapped on the shear line and you will have to release the tension to release the trapped wafer. Some locks require a very light turning tension otherwise they will clutch AND the more you force the lock with more tension, the more it will clutch so much easier as the clutch and wafers wear. Which way to Decode the lock? ALL High security (laser type locks) with a SINGLE lever arm will decode Decode inthe OPPOSITE direction to the way the lock was picked. On SOME double sided locks res (non-laser type locks) this may or may not be the case, they MAY pick and decode in the same direction ... this is shown on the information page of each lock + Decode No part of this publication shall be reproduced, transmitted or resold in whole or in part in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical, including photo- copying without the prior written consent of the author. T always run the numbers I get through Instacode to see if it is a genuine code. Sometimes if the lock has been replaced, it may be an after market (non genuine) lock and therefore may not even be a legitimate code. GM37 Ortec M37, GM37W and GM Ortec locks are all found on various GM vehicles from 2004 Tt is important first of all to determine which lock you are working on and which of the Lishi 2 in 1 tools you need to use To determine if the lock is warded or not, insert an X244/H76 blank into the lock, if the key inserts fully into the lock, it is non- warded You may also measure the keyhole size; the non-warded locks are .364" and the warded locks measure .344” Non-warded GM locks Warded GM and Ortec locks keyway measure: 364" (9.2mm) keyway measure: 344" (8,74mm) Q ) Tips for decoding the GM37 non warded locks The non-warded locks are very sloppy and occasionally the decoding will read of f or “in-between” the depth marks. For best results try not to over push the wafers to get your readings ... push lightly until it stops, make first contact with the wafer then continue pushing lightly until the wafer bottoms in the lock housing, if you push a wafer too hard it will shift slightly to one side, then you will see one'side (odds) that reads correct and one side (evens) that reads in-between (or vice-versa) Take a reading and if its not right on a numbered line, carefully remove the tool whilst leaving the lock in the picked position, re-insert the tool into the lock ... or try reading again with the plug turned at a different angle Tf readings are not exactly on target, try to center the plug and tool in the lock the best you can and read again Read several times if necessary, you will eventually get the correct readings Best advice is not to be too heavy handed when reading these locks. (some locks in the UK were tip driven) The lock is very prone to wear after a few years use (especially the ignition lock) and needs to be replaced or repaired. Tf the lock turns to the riglit, then we will be picking the lock to the left (anticlockwise) so make sure the arrows on the tool are facing left Tf the lock turns to the left, then we will be picking the lock to the right (clockwise) make sure the arrows on the tool are facing to the right ... if not, remove the tool and reinsert it into the lock the correct way round so you can read/decode the lock once it is picked Now remove the alignment pin and turn all the handles on the tool as far as possible to the direction you will be picking (in our case it was clockwise) so I turned all the handles on the tool as far as they would turn to the right You will find one or more of the handles will not turn .. these are the number 4 discs This is the handle you will use as a tension handle, by holding a light clockwise pres- sure on the handle Now turn (one at a time) the other handles slowly until you feel it go "loose" (it will move more freely in this position than in any other position) .. this disk is now picked. Progress through the remainder of the discs by moving each handle until it feels loose or sloppy, this means that the disc is lined up correctly with the sidebar By holding a light clockwise pressure on the number 4 disc/handle, once all the discs ‘re picked, the lock will turn WARNING: Do not use excessive pressure when turning otherwise you risk twisting the tubes out of alignment or breaking the picking tips a Copyright Tony Audsley 2011 © ‘Once the lock is picked, hold in the open position and draw an “imaginary line" across one of the number 4 position/s (there will always be at least one number 4 disc) and decode the lock. Ao Soe Copyright Tony Audsley 2011 © L Tibbe Door Lock To strip the door lock, first remove the circlip and the cam on the back of the lock, then remove the spring The plastic retainer has to now be removed to pull out the plug from the back of the lock housing, take care not to drop any of the discs when removing the plug 341314 With a screwdriver or similar tool break out this plastic retainer ... it is not possible to take this off without wrecking it beyond repair or re-use These are available as a spare part, and they come in 2 different colours .. White and Black (both are slightly different) 341314 Remember, when rebuilding the lock .. the disc nearest the tip goes into the plug first, then a washer then the second disc and so on usually put a little dab of Super Lube grease on each of the disks 6 Copyright Tony Audsley 2011 © 66 Tibbe Ignition Lock First you need to remove the large circlip from the back of the lock, for this you will need circlip pliers that “open up" (take care to note how this is fitted before removing otherwise you will NEVER work out how to put it back after the repair) Next you will need to remove tthe circlip inside the recess at the back of the lock, for this you will need circlip pliers that "squeeze together" The plug can now be withdrawn from the outer lock case. (and still own) First came the Tibbe Pick made by “Souber Tools" this has been around for lots of years, this is by far the hardest pick to use, it is the cheapest but will pick both 6 and 8 space Tibbe locks. Then came the Pick/ decoder made by “Safe Ventures” (and other European Companies) T have owned this tool for many years and it is still my favourite Tibbe pick/ decoder and it will pick both 6 and 8 space Tibbe locks. It will decode more accurately than any other Tibbe decoder on the market BUT it is by far the most expensive. Next came the “caterpillar pick" (as it is affectionately known) and there have been many versions of this tool, made by many companies. The early version, whilst they worked well for picking, lacked a little when it came to decoding, so a “Super” version of the same theme (but with better decoding marks) was manufactured, again by many different companies in China and Korea ... this tool will only pick and decode the 6 space Tibbe lock Lishi now produce what is adver- tised as the strongest and best Tibbe (caterpillar) pick/decoder in the world.
