Sea turtles are reptiles that live in the ocean. They are ancient animal
that have been around for over 100 million years even before the dinosaurs.
Today, sea turtles are endangered species too. If we don’t protect them,
they will soon be gone forever.

Sea turtles are endangered for many reasons. Some people eat them
or their eggs even though it is not allowed. Other people damage sea
turtles’ nests. This makes it harder for sea turtles to lay eggs. When people
throw rubbish like plastic bags, the sea turtles may get stuck inside it and
some others might it. Some factories also throw some chemicals in the sea
which also damages the turtles’ habitat.

Many people and especially scientists work hard to protect the sea
turtles so they do not die. What can you do to help? When you go to the
beach, make sure not to leave any trash behind. If you see a turtle nest in
the sand, do not touch it or move the eggs. Avoid beach campfires during
the time the turtles are preparing their nests to lay eggs. Turn off the lights on
the beach; turtles use the moon to reach the beach and by turning off the
beach lights it will be easier for them to find their way.

pounds of bamboo. However, if they are extremely hungry and there are no
bamboo trees found they may eat grass, fruits or small animals like chicken.

leave their places from March to May to make a family. Female giant
