Description of shaver

Rechargeable and cord shaver: 12-240 V charging operation

100 - 240 V mains operation without switching
Housing: Thermoplastic
Shaving head frame: Thermoplastic
Shaving foil: Plastic frame version
Cutter block: Plastic, 30 cutter blades 3° obliquely positioned 13 mm
diameter
Long hair cutter: Extendible, switchable through the combination switch
Wall holder: With power cord-adapter

General Information

Drive: 1.2 V direct current motor. Power transmission to cutter block by

eccentric and oscillating system.

Power supply: Supply by means of one built-in rechargeable battery or by direct mains
supply. A built-in electronic charger controls the supply automatically, inde-
pendently of the mains voltage or frequency. Charging of the shaver is
indicated by a red or green control lamp.

Charging operation through impulse charge, starting from 100 V.

Charging time: on 12 V, 20 hours

from 100 V and up, approx. 1 hour

After maximum charging capacity has been reached, the electronic device
switches back to a compensating trickle charge. A special charging cable
with fuse is available, for use with outlets in car or boats. The most
favorable ambient temperatures for shaver functioning is between + 15 °C
and + 35 °C. By no means the temperature should be below 0 °C or above +
40 °C when charging the shaver.

Technical data

1. Amplitude measured at the cutter block: 3.2 mm

2. Rotational speed battery drive: minimum 6600 RPM without long hair-cutter
3. Current input when run on line-voltage (220V): 17 mA without long hair-cutter
4. Operating capacity after shaver has been
fully charged: approx. 30 shaving minutes

Disassembly

• Disconnect unit from mains outlet. Take-off cutting parts and cutter block support (6).
• Remove housing screws (32,33) and pull-off housing cover (9) and housing bottom (30).
• Be careful: leg spring (12) will jump out!
• Un-solder connecting wires from motor, disengage plug plate and remove printed circuit
board (27).
• Lift-off insulating part (26), remove screws (23) and take out motor by pulling downwards.
• Remove screws (17), lift-off cover plate (16) and pull oscillator with eccenter (15) from
shaft (14).

In order to replace oscillator, remove motor first.

Assembly

The assembly takes place in a reversed sequence.

• First assemble oscillator (15), then motor (21).

• In order to insert PCB (27). first let plug plate snap into the corresponding place in chassis
(13). Solder all connections according to drawing.
• Insert first the hook-end of the leg spring (12) into the rear of the sliding plate. The leg
spring must be kept by hand and the sliding plate turned until the eyelet-end of the spring
will rest in a recess provided for in the chassis (see illustration).
• Now, push sliding plate first into the right guide provided in the chassis, then into the left
guide.
• After the sliding plate has been assembled, visually check if the sliding contacts have
remained undamaged and if they correctly contact the conducting tracks,
• Attach sealing strip (10) to housing cover (9). Put housing cover over slide plate onto
chassis.
• Put foam rubber seal (8) into corresponding pocket in housing.
• Put insulation insert (34) into place, put housing bottom (30) into place and connect
housing parts with screws.
• Assemble cutter block support (6) and attach cutting parts.
• Check product for function

ATTENTION:

Because of safety reasons, no repairs should be made on PCB (27). The PCB is protected against
humidity with a special lacquer.

As from the 32nd week of 1992, all Braun universal shavers for men will be furnished with
ecologically friendly batteries and all relevant PCBs to be used as spare parts will have this new
battery. This requires a rebuilding of the micron plus universal shavers which come in for repair
with a defective PCB.

The new PCB contains only one battery and, consequently, along with a exchange of the PCB, the
old 2.4 V motor must be replaced with a 1.2 V motor.

Rebuilding set (Ni-Hy) Order-No. NLA

This also causes a different charging characteristic: After being fully charged the green charging
diode switches off.

From the 4th week of 1995 the rebuilding set Ni-Hy (5569650) is no longer available from
Germany and in the case of a rebuild, the following parts should be ordered however, there is a
limited number of rebuilding kits left in our inventory. Please call to see if still available.

1. PCB, Ni-Hy 5556631

2. Motor, 1.2 V NLA
