OPERATION MANUAL

CUBE MOULD : 15 CM X 15 CM X 15 CM

The apparatus is designed for preparing cement, concrete cubes for use as test
specimens in a Compression Testing Machine.

The apparatus is made of cast iron with inner dimensions of 15 cm x 15 cmx15

cm.

The base plate is of mild steel.

USE OF CUBE MOULD

 Place the cube mould on a solid leveled surface.

 Fill the cement concrete mix into the mould and tamp is with a rod for proper
setting and to prevent any air bubble.
 Remove the excess mix from the top of the mould with a straight metal edge.
 After the mould is properly filled, carefully remove the the side plated and base
plate and carefully remove the mix without disturbing the size.
 This would be the test sample to be used on the compression testing machine
to determine its compression strength.
 Prior to placing the specimen on the compression testing machine, ensure that
the mould be properly cured by submerging it in a water trough
For the specified period recommended for curing.

 Prior to the preparing of the yet another cube mould specimen, ensure that
that the mould is clean and dry.

IMPORTANT

To ensure proper test results, the mould specimen should not have any air bubble.
To ensure, proper tamping of the specimen is essential.

A Vibrating Table can also be used which ensures that the mould is properly filled.
