BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The study focuses on IMI’s unique approach to employee training and development, which

is primarily aimed at enhancing the performance of its workforce. The central objective of this

approach is to bolster the relevant skills, knowledge, and intellectual capacity of employees

through comprehensive training and development programs.

The study is designed to critically evaluate the impact of these training initiatives on the

overall performance of employees. To achieve this, the study employs the Kirkpatrick’s four levels

of evaluation model, a renowned tool in the field of human resource management. This model

provides a systematic method for assessing the effectiveness of training programs, making it an

ideal tool for this study.

The success of any organization in achieving its objectives and goals is heavily reliant on

the performance of its employees. This makes the aspect of training and development not just

important, but crucial to the growth and success of the organization. The study, therefore, seeks to

underscore the significance of effective training and development strategies in improving

employee performance and, by extension, organizational success.

Existing literature offers a wealth of information on various approaches to training and

development. These range from formal programs, which are often structured and have specific

objectives, to on-the-job training, which allows employees to learn while performing their regular

duties. This study aims to explore these different approaches, assess their effectiveness, and

determine how they can be best utilized in the context of IMI.


By doing so, the study hopes to provide valuable insights that can help organizations like

IMI to optimize their training and development strategies, thereby enhancing employee

performance and contributing to organizational success.

GLOBAL EXPERIENCE

IMI or Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. is a global manufacturing solutions expert

providing EMS and power semiconductor assembly and SATS services. They have a wide global

footprint with facilities located in ten countries. The company serves diversified markets that

include those in the automotive, industrial, medical, telecommunications infrastructure, storage

device, and consumer electronics industries. They’re known for their commitment to providing

high-quality products and services. Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (IMI) has indeed made

significant strides on the global stage.

❖ Via Optronics Partnership: IMI acquired a 76% stake in Via Optronics, a German-based

company, in 2016. This acquisition expanded IMI’s global footprint and allowed it to

leverage Via Optronics’ expertise in display solutions and optical bonding.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
