The Purpose of this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the

effectiveness of using Saba banana (Musa acuminta x
balbisiana) peels and Red ogo seaweeds (Gracilaria
parvispora) as organic fertilizers designed specifically for
the growth of lettuce (Lactuca sativa). The study intends to
establish a scientific foundation for understanding the
impact of these organic materials on soil fertility,
nutrient levels, and overall lettuce development and yield
through rigorous testing and data analysis.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the

organic fertilizer comprising of Banana peels and Red ogo
seaweeds in enhancing the growth of lettuce.

Specifically, this study will seek to answer the following

questions:

1. What is the most effective treatment in enhancing the

growth of lettuce in terms of:
a. Length
b. Width
c. Number of leaves
d. Weight?
2.Is there a significant difference in every treatment in
terms of:
a. Length
b. Width
c. Number of leaves
d. Weight?
3. Is there a significant difference between the
experimental group and the control group, in terms of:
a. Length
b. Width
c. Number of leaves
d. Weight?

Hypotheses

The following hypotheses would serve as the foundation

for the investigation in order for this plan to be
successful:

H1: There is a significant difference between every

treatments of D.O.F. (Dissolvable Organic Fertilizer) in
terms of length, width, number of leaves, and weight (yield)
of the lettuce.

H1: There is a significant difference between the control

group and experimental group in terms of length, width,
number of leaves, and weight (yield) of the lettuce.

Conceptual Framework

Figure 1. Shows the Paradigm of the study.

Independent Variable Dependent Variable

TREATMENTS

T⁰-water
GROWTH OF LETTUCE

30% Banana peels (30 mL) - Length of the leaves
70 % Seaweed (70 mL)
- Width of the leaves

70% Banana peels (70 mL) - Number of leaves
30% Seaweed (30 mL)
- Weight of the lettuce
T³ (yield)
50% banana peels (50 mL)
50% Seaweed (50 mL)

Figure 1 shows the relationship of independent variable (the

treatment to produce an effective L.O.F for hydroponic
Lettuce) and dependent variable ( The Length, Width, the
number of leaves , and the total weight of the lettuce).
