At the start it was the American Bell X-1 that shattered the sound barrier in 1947 (figure) which

started the international race to build the first supersonic passenger aircraft. The British were
the first to develop the idea of a supersonic passenger aircraft on the other hand, France showed
off the super carvale on the platform (figure), and in October 1956 a special group was formed in
the British ministry of aviation to create a faster than sound aircraft. Because of the high
production cost they needed a partner, and that partner was France because France was also
developing a supersonic plane. On the 29th of November 1962 a contract was signed with France
where four organizations worked together to make the Concorde plane, Two british
organizations: BAC (British Aircraft Corporation) and Rolls-Royce, and two French organizations:
Aerospatiale and Snecma and to make the first prototype it took them 7 years and £70 million, in
the winter of 1967 we saw the appearance of the Concorde 0.01 in France and had its first flight.
