in a beaker, and the liquid changed colors. He recorded the properties of the mixed substances .

Use Evidence from Text: Is this a chemical change? How do you know?

Write the mass of the mixture of substances A and B. How can this mass be used as
evidence of the conservation of matter?

Yes, it is a chemical change. Because, a new substance was formed with different color which
is an evidence of a chemical change.

The mass of the mixture= Mass of substance A + Massof substance B

= 3.6 g + 2.1 g= 5.7 g.
The mass before change equals the mas after change that's mean that matter does not
destroyed or created nd it is conserved

Topic (3): Earth’s Systems

A. Circle the words to complete the sentences.

1. The model shows the evolutionary tree.

The model shows Earth’s (biosphere / geosphere). This system includes (most living
things / all living things), such as (animals, plants, and minerals / animals, plants,
and bacteria).

When the hydrosphere and the (atmosphere / geosphere / lithosphere) interact, it can
result in (a forest fire / an earthquake / a tropical storm).

2.Look at the picture.

Most of the water in Earth’s hydrosphere is (water vapor / saltwater / freshwater).

A very small amount of water in Earth’s hydrosphere is (water vapor / freshwater / saltwater).

Taylor created this model of Earth.

Taylor's model shows (the greenhouse effect / movement of water / acid rain /
pollution from solar energy).

Luis created a model of the cross-section of Earth.

In Luis's model, the rocky outer portion of Earth is referred to as the (geosphere /
lithosphere / hydrosphere). It is made up of the (crust and upper mantle / crust and
core / lower mantle).

B. How do the hydrosphere, atmosphere, and geosphere shown in the picture contribute to
the tree’s growth?

Draw a line to match each sentence to the correct sphere.

The tree draws water through its roots. Hydrosphere

The soil provides a place for the tree to lay down roots. Atmosphere

The tree uses oxygen for energy. Geosphere

Write the letters of the correct answers on the lines at left.
