1. What is in the tittle which revolves around the lives of the characters? Cite
the symbols used and what for?
ANSWER: Pride and Prejudice is all about two big things: "Pride" means characters
thinking they're better than others, and "Prejudice" means having ideas about people
before really knowing them. These ideas mess with the characters, especially
Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Imagine it like a tangled web of how people see
each other and make mistakes because of it.

The story is like a dance between what society expects and what the characters
think about each other. It's not just about old England; it's about love, what people
assume, and how those assumptions can cause problems. "Pride and Prejudice" is
basically a timeless story about how we judge others and the surprises that can
come when we really get to know them.

2. In what particular era the story happened?

ANSWER: Pride and Prejudice unfolds in the early 1800s in England, a time known
as the Regency era. This era kicked in because King George III wasn't feeling well,
so his son, the Prince of Wales, took over as the leader from 1811 to 1820, earning it
the name "Regency era." During this time, things changed—how folks dressed, what
they enjoyed in art and books, and how society operated.

The story of Pride and Prejudice gives us a peek into what life was like back then,
especially in how people acted and the social groups they were part of.

3. What is charlottes view of marriage?

ANSWER: Charlotte in Pride and Prejudice takes a pragmatic view of marriage. She
sees it more as a practical arrangement than a romantic endeavor. Charlotte
believes in the stability and security that a marriage can provide, focusing on
financial and social aspects rather than solely on love.

Her decision to marry Mr. Collins, despite his lack of charm, stems from a desire for
a comfortable and secure future within the societal norms of her time. Charlotte's
perspective on marriage contrasts with the more idealistic views, particularly those
held by characters like Elizabeth Bennet.

4. How does Mr. Darey conduct himself at the ball? What first impression does
he make?
ANSWER: In the ball scene of Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy initially comes across
as aloof and reserved. He conducts himself with a certain level of formality,
appearing somewhat distant from the other guests. His reluctance to engage in
dance and conversation creates an impression of pride and arrogance.

This reserved demeanor, along with some remarks he makes, contributes to a less-
than-favorable first impression. Mr. Darcy's initial behavior at the ball sets the stage
for the misunderstandings and prejudices that play a significant role in the unfolding
of the story.

5. Name at least 2 themes shown in the movie and discuss briefly in what
scenes.
ANSWER: There are two themes shown in the movie, the Social Class and
Prejudice and the Love and Self - Discovery.

Social Class and Prejudice: This theme is evident throughout the movie, but
particularly highlighted in the ballroom scene. The stark contrast between the
characters from different social classes is emphasized as Mr. Darcy initially appears
aloof and dismissive of the local society.

This sets the stage for the societal judgments and prejudices that shape the
relationships in the story.

Love and Self-Discovery: The theme of love and self-discovery is prominently

portrayed in the development of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy's relationship. A key
scene is when Mr. Darcy helps Elizabeth's sister, Jane, when she falls ill.

This moment marks a turning point, revealing Mr. Darcy's hidden virtues and
prompting Elizabeth to reassess her initial negative impressions. The theme unfolds
as both characters navigate their feelings and confront their own misconceptions
about love and personal growth.
