Theater 19 (Kharkiv)

"Theatre 19" was born thanks to a group of students of the acting and directing faculties of the Theater
Department of the Kharkiv Institute of Arts. On June 19, 2000, the first performance was shown, after which
several more independent works took place underground in
the walls of the university.

In 2002, the performance "Pavlo I" became the prize-

winner of the All-Ukrainian festival of contemporary art
"Cultural heroes of the XXI century" in Kyiv, was highly
appreciated by critics and theater actors. It was a great
moral support for the
nascent theater. The group
was named "Theatre 19" , in
which the number "19" is a lucky talisman that accompanies all the successes
of the young theater

The Kharkiv Actor's House is home to more than 20 theater groups, which
have been staging a wide variety of plays based on the works of modern
authors and classics within its walls for many years. Young, but already
recognized by many nominations and competitions, "Teatr 19" is one of the
most interesting groups that
offers experimental
productions and new interpretations of classic
plays.

In terms of form, "Theatre 19" is completely

traditional and positions itself as a theater of
individuality, in which the director strives, creating a
performance, to do it "through the actor".

In the future, though rare, the long-awaited premieres

of the theater became real cultural events in Kharkiv.
