DC Hub Girls Cricket
DC Hub Girls Cricket
This year we had more than 70 girls playing cricket in the MYCA and WYCL leagues, and another 40 girls
in the elementary school league in Prince George’s County. This is the largest number of girl cricketers
for any cricket hub in the USA. Even though we have the largest number of girl cricketers in the country,
many of our girls are consistently overlooked by the national selectors.
The DC Hub needs to be better organized to provide the support for our girls to keep moving them
forward. We need to make sure our girls get the opportunities to make them better players.
Our goal is to get the more experienced girls ready for the USA Cricket tournaments planned for next
year and provide a pathway for the younger girls to take them to the next level.
1. Have a meeting with girls and their parents to find out what they would like to see happen for
girls cricket in the DC Hub
2. Have two groups of girl cricketers: Maryland and Virginia
3. Organize one or two practices per month for each group for the girls to get to know each other
a. The more experienced girls will practice together and the less experienced girls will
practice together
4. Work with all clubs and academies to help improve the skill level for all girls
This program will be organized by the DC Hub, and it will be led by Sham Chotoo. If your daughter is
