II. Introduction
How long would it take for a chemical reaction to occur while mixing the two mixtures?
III. Hypothesis:
We hypothesize that changing the amount of Vitamin C, as well as the amount of Hydrogen Peroxide used
will affect the time to which the chemical reaction would take place.
Hydrogen Peroxide (Agua Oxinada) 10% concentration, Iodine, Distilled water, Cornstarch, Ascorbic acid (tablets),
Beakers, Graduated Cylinder, glass rod, electric kettles, weighing scale, mortar & pestle, hot plate
Methods:
Various mixtures were used per set, namely set A, B, C, and D. Each set, two mixtures were mixed in separate
beakers. Mixture A consisted mainly of distilled water, ascorbic acid, and Iodine. Mixture B however consisted of
boiled distilled water. cornstarch, and hydrogen peroxide. Afterwards, the two are mixed together until it changes
colour
For each set different variables ranging from increasing the amount of ascorbic acid, reducing hydrogen peroxide,
VI. Conclusions:
Based on the experiment that was conducted. Our results show, that changing the amount, of both
Hydrogen Peroxide and Vitamin C does affect the time to which the chemical reaction would take place
As we can see from set A, C, D the time in which the chemical reaction happened took quite a bit of time,
Helpful format for writing a conclusion (length of blank lines does NOT indicate the length
of your entries – additional sentences are encouraged)
Before we begin with the laboratory experiment, the following must be observed and followed.
Incomplete materials will be subject for grade deduction. A student with incomplete or no PPE
will not be allowed to join the experiment.
Individual PPE:
o Laboratory Gown
o Laboratory Goggles
o Mask
o Latex Gloves
• Never taste or "sniff" chemicals. Never draw materials in a pipette with your mouth.
• When heating substances in a test tube, point the “mouth” away from people.
• Never carry dangerous chemicals or hot equipment near other people.
