Read First:
✓ Only update the software while in port, never while underway. Do not attempt to update the software the same
✓ This update should not erase user information. However, we strongly recommend that you save all valuable user
data, such as points, routes, settings, etc., prior to updating the software. Instructions for saving user data can
be found in chapter 8 of the Operator’s manual, chapter 6 of the onboard eGuide, and in the addendum of this
instruction.
1. Preparation
✓ USB memory, minimum 2 GB
✓ Detach all USB devices from the TZTL12F/15F and ensure all other MFD’s are turned off before starting the
update process.
✓ Copy all waypoints, routes, marks, and settings to a USB memory stick (See Addendum 1 for instructions on

Note:
(1) Download the software from the Furuno website to a folder on your desktop.
(3) Copy the unzipped program files to the root of a formatted USB memory. When you open the USB memory you
should see the following files. They cannot be inside a folder. No other files should be on the USB memory.

(4) Insert the USB memory to the TZTL12F/15F USB port as shown below.
(5) Turn on the TZTL12F/15F.
The update process will automatically start in the following order. After the update process above finishes, the

When multiple USB drives are connected via a USB hub, the data will be saved to the first detected USB.
1.2. Settings
To save settings, access [Settings] – [Files] and select [Backup Settings]. The settings will be saved to the one of
the microSD cards in the optional SDU-001 (if installed), or to a storage device such as a USB memory connected to
the USB port/cable of the TZTL12F/15F. An SD card along with an SD card adapter can also be connected to the USB
To restore the settings, select [Settings] – [Files] – [Restore Settings] and select the user setting file.
