UNESCO-TWAS AWARDS SEED GRANT TO MUHAS

The World Academy of Science (TWAS), a programme under the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in collaboration with the
German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has awarded a total of
USD 60,899 as Seed Grant for New African Principal Investigators (SG-NAPI) to
Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences for the period of two years.

Principal Investigator: Dr Nelson Masota,

Department of Medicinal Chemistry, School of Pharmacy

This grant will fund the Project titled "The Search for Novel Antibacterial Agents against
Multi-Drug Resistant Pathogens of Critical Priority: Exploring the Synergy between
Chemical Biology, Chemoinformatics, and Synthetic Chemistry." The funds will cover
the costs related to Consumables, Research Equipment, Scholarships for MSc.
students, Collaborative mobility, Links to industry, and Dissemination activities.
