COURSE DESCRIPTION
To acquaint the students with the concepts, methods and instruments for measuring electrical and non-
electrical quantities.

INSTRUCTOR NAME: UMAIR HUSSAN EMAIL Address: umair.hussan@tuf.edu.pk

Contact: 03006699960

COURSE OBJECTIVE:
This course covers the basic use and application of electrical and electronic measuring instruments,
sensors, transducers. The theory of analogue DC and AC measuring instruments is first established
which is then used to study analog electronic and digital meters. Different types of sensors and
transducer are studied with their analog and digital interfacing. The use and application of different
measuring instruments are also covered.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
• The student will be able to perform experiments to determine various types of errors in
measurements.
• The students will be familiar with various measuring instruments used to detect electrical
quantities.
• The students will be familiar with advanced measuring Instruments.
• The student will be able to design basic Electrical instruments.
• An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
• An ability to design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data.
• An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
• An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
• An ability to communicate effectively.
• A knowledge of contemporary issues within and outside the electrical engineering profession.
