RECRUITMENT
TRAINING JOURNEY
28 WEEK TRAINING
There are four key areas of training that you will cover over a jam-packed
28 weeks. Foundation Training will cover everything you will face as
an officer; legal, communication, command intents, ethics, incident
management procedures, policies and systems, scenario training, court
system and prosecutions.
You’ll be tested by the Operational Safety & Tactics Training Unit. This
means training in the use of force, from how to correctly use a firearm,
taser, baton, handcuffs, OC spray and empty hand tactics, in accordance
with legislative requirements and policy; in order to maintain public order.
In our driver training classes, you will learn how to properly handle a car,
emergency stop and become adept at emergency driving.
There’s also the Detective Training School, covering investigative
training, procedures and legal.
18 MONTH
PROBATION
During your first 18 months as a Probationary
Constable, you’ll be on the front line in Western
Australia, undertaking a range of duties
including first response, patrol, processing
arrested suspects, investigative interviewing,
traffic, and getting firsthand experience of
the judicial process. Probationary Constables
are placed in a variety of locations including
Metropolitan areas, Regional WA and
pandemic response.
