- Engaging in discussion to understand their
challenges/issues and the improvements required.
- Safety committee meetings and they are encouraged
to share safety feedback, suggestions, report near
misses, hazards, safety improvement ideas etc.

plant.

3. Engagement with Contract workers: (Communication, motivation,
participation in events, meetings etc. wellness and well-being)

4. Capability Building of Contract workers: (Induction, Training &
effectiveness)
-Safety induction – Safety awareness for Contractors
-Briefing the safety requirements, instructions, procedures and practices
-Trainings- Mandatory (e.g. Safety hub videos, Champions in Safety’,
Basics of Health & Safety, Rigging & Lifting safety, PTW, PPE & and all job
specific safety trainings (Hot work, work at height etc.)
-Effectiveness – Learnings are evaluated during post training interaction.

5. Access Control, Authorization & Responsibilities of Contract workers
- Biometric entry at Khopoli factory, CM sites to follow customer access
control system
- Authorized to observe, identify, report any situation, incident related to plant
which can be unsafe, or hazardous to workers and property.
- Empowered to ‘STOP WORK’ if its unsafe.
Responsibilities are:
o Inform/report to the supervisor about hazards, incident at workplace.
o Follow Wartsila Life-saving rules.
o To Participate in site safety meetings and site inspections
o To inform and demand corrective actions regarding to safety failures and
possible hazard caused by other contractors to them.
o Obey Wartsila’s and customer’s safety and environmental policy and safe
work procedures
o Use personal protective equipment according to job requirements.
o Make safety a part of everyday job.
o Participate in daily toolbox talk.
o ‘Stop work’ if it is unsafe.

6. Empowerment to Report OHS Issues (Reporting of accidents,
near miss, unsafe conditions, and unsafe actions)
- As per Wartsila’s QEHS Policy every Worker is Empowered to report
any incident, Hazard, unsafe act, concern, issue related to EHS
- Hazards/unsafe condition reporting by contract workers 2022- 222,
2023 -194
- Workers are authorized to STOP WORK If it is unsafe

7. Other Measures including PPE's, Technologies, Equipment safety,
inspections, audits etc. to ensure health & safety of the contract
workers
-All mandatory PPEs are made available for all workers:
Safety Helmet, Safety Shoes, Safety Goggle, Boiler suit, Hand gloves, Ear
plugs / Ear Muff
-Job Specific PPEs are used as & when needed.

Technologies & Equipment safety-
- Gas leak detection system at gas plant sites
- Non-contact type high voltage detector, Earth discharge rod
- Safety guards are available to all moving , rotating machines
- All welding work having welding fumes extractor & well barricaded.
- Platforms having, handrail, toe guard etc.
Inspection & Audits-
- Periodic inspection of all equipment’s, Lifting tools & tackles by competent
agency, Inspection of tools, power supply points.
- Welding machines inspection by NABL approved agency
- Safety inspections ( e. g. electrical safety protections like earth fault
protection functioning, safety alarms etc.
- Access controls like all highrise monkey ladders to chimney, roof, EOT, are
locked.
- Internal audit conducted by QEHS
- Factory Safety audit is conducted by DISH approved agency (once in every
two years)
- Annual & half yearly health check-up of employees.
