To conclude, having solar panels around and on top of the warehouse makes it a green building.

This green building provides watts and energy, more than 25% of what is being consumed. Challenges
were introduced in the design of this project. As we do not have experience in designing a building, but
we have a background from the rest of the courses that were taken over the years. A few examples of
these challenges are:

A. Determining the dimensions of the building

B. Determining how many solar panels were needed to cover a sufficient amount for clean
energy.
C. Controlling the moments in our building
D. Building the model using the software ETABS 18, etc.

Fortunately, we were able to overcome these challenges with extensive research and self-
learning how to use the software. The main results from this project were the following:

a. Factored load on each column = 25 KN

b. Factored moment on each column = 198.053 KN.m
c. Average consumption of watts / day = 800,000 Watts /day
d. Average generation of electricity from all solar panels in Watts / day = 1,090,560 Watts / day
e. Use of bolted moment connection under the column
f. Use of a column base plate of 300 mm x 300 mm x 15 mm thick.
g. Use of a square shallow concrete foundation with dimensions = 1 m x 1 m x 0.5 m thick.
h. Total of solar panels on the roof = 128 panels.
i. Total of solar panels on the walls = 64 panels.
j. Totals of all solar panels = 192 panels.
k. Connections were all bolted connection with standard clearance holes.
