Trimesters G – Gravidity  Number of pregnancies

First Trimester  0 – 13 weeks Includes:

Second Semester  14 – 26 weeks  Present Pregnancy

Third Trimester  27 – 40 weeks
Gestational Age (40 weeks)
– number of completed weeks counting from
the first day of LMP.
– Describes how far along the pregnancy is
Fetal Age (38 weeks)
– Age of the developing baby, counting from
the estimated date of conception.
– Usually 2 weeks less than the gestational age.
Prenatal Terms
Gravida/Gravidity
– Number of pregnancies
Nulligravida  Never been pregnant
Primigravida  Pregnant for the first time
 Miscarriages/abortion.
 Twins/triplets count as one
T – Term Births  Number born at term
 > 37th week of gestation
 Includes alive or stillborn
 Twins/triplets count as one
P – Pre-term Births  Delivered at 20th – 36
6/7th weeks’ gestation.
 Includes a alive or stillborn
 Twins/triplets count as one.
A – Abortion/Miscarriages  Delivered before
20th weeks gestation.
 Counts with gravidity
 Twins/triplets count as one

Multigravida  2+ Pregnancies L – Living Children  # of current living children

Parity  Twin/triplets count individually.

– Number of pregnancies that have reached
viability (20 weeks’ gestation) whether born
alive or not.

Preterm
– Pregnancies reached 20 weeks’ but ended
before 37 weeks’

Term
– Pregnancies lasted between 37 and 42
weeks’.

Early Term  37th – 38 6/7th weeks

Full Term  39th – 40 6/7th weeks

Late Term  41 – 41 6/7th weeks
