purpose for the 1. Identify and understand the three types of
lesson speech
2. Perform a various types of speech.
3.Realize the importance of type of speeches
C. Presenting MOTIVATION
examples/
instances of the
new lesson
Based using this concept map what is your idea
about SPEECH?

Very good!
Because today we will be going to discuss about
the different types of speech according to the
purpose.

D. Discussing new Have you ever listened to a speech that made you
concepts and laugh, think deeply, or convinced you to take
practicing new action? What types of speeches do you think can
skills achieve these effects?"

Class, the purpose of speech are studied in order

to deepen one’s knowledge and learn how to
apply them in one’s own speech.
There are three types of speech the first one is
the informative speech.
What is informative speech?
Kindly read
INFORMATIVE/EXPLORATORY
SPEECH
one where the speaker intends to educate their
audience on a specific topic. The goal of such a
speech is to take complex subject matter and
present information that allows the audience to
better understand the topic.

The goal of this speech is that to present an

information that allows the audience to better
understand the topic. It is usually use in
discussion, meeting and etc.
Class this is not being a “Marites”
Let’s say the speaker wants to talk about the
Ebola various pandemic.
In this issue the speaker wants to talk about its
causes, symptoms, and treatment.
The speaker wants the audience or the listeners
to be informed about that Issue, so that the
audience will be informed on how the pandemic
came about and how to tell if one is infected
with. At the end the audience will be told about
the treatments available and the near future to
stop this various and prevent people from dying.

The purpose of this speech is to inform the

audience on a certain issue.

Did you get it class?

The second type of speech is the PURSUASIVE
SPEECH.
PERSUASIVE SPEECH
is a type of speech where the goal is to convince
the audience to accept the speaker's point of
view or perform a desired action. The speaker
uses words and visuals to guide the audience's
thoughts and actions.

This type of speech meant to convince the

listeners why the speaker’s side of the equation
is more beneficial .
A topic like “We should prepare for another
typhoon Yolanda” can be better presented as a
persuasive speech. Although the information is
disseminated, still the goal is to convince the
Filipinos to be prepared as our country is
visited by atleast 30 typhoons per year, several
of them as devastating as Yolanda was. That
speech if persuasive enough it will save lives.
Is that clear?
Another example is that when you want the
audience to agree that “ a log ban will save our
forest’ then the purpose of this is also to
persuade. The speaker want to convinced that a
total log ban is doable and it will save our
forest.

The purpose of this speech is to change

listener’s opinion or attitude, regarding to a
certain topic.this type of speech is usually use in
political campaign.

Are you following?

And the last type of speech is the Entertainment

speech.
ENTERTAINMENT SPEECH
is a speech designed to captivate an audience’s
attention and regale or amuse them while
delivering a message.

Class, Like more traditional informative or

persuasive speeches, entertaining speeches
should communicate a clear message, but the
manner of speaking used in an entertaining
speech is typically different.

For instance when you are listening to Papa

dudot program in radio and you are realize that
you are relate what a letter sender go through”
in this example there might be an information
involved such as explaining what true love
means, and the persuasion is present in the act
of choosing someone as his/her true love.
Class an entertainment speech is not just a
comedy sketch it is not only tell a series of joke.
It is neither to have laughing throughout the
speech to make the listeners smile or feel
lighthearted after the speech.
Remember, when we use the word “entertain,”
we are referring not just to humor but also to
drama. The goal of an entertaining speech is to
stir an audience’s emotions.

Do you understand?

Again what are the three types of speech?

Okay very good!

Let’s see if you really understand the different

types of speech and its purpose.

Activity:
I will call three students, and you will choose
your partner from your classmate. One will read
the short speech and the partner will identify
whether it is Informative, persuasive or
entertainment speech.

1.Nevertheless, in many of the modern societies

today, there is no need for traditional gender
roles, because both men and women are able to
do many of the same necessary tasks, thereby
making gender-specific behaviors irrelevant.
2. Over time, the technological and agricultural
developments of the
Neolithic Revolution spread, causing more
nomadic tribes to settle down into stationary
lifestyles. Thus, women began to stay home or
within the settlement to take care of children,
make clothes, and other domestic tasks, while
men worked the fields to grow food,
domesticate animals, and continue to hunt,
although to a lesser scale.
3. Well, do you have a great day ladies and
gentlemen. Welcome to “Magandang Buhay”.
We’re here today to talk the spectacular life of
our three women who are now in the limelight
of their career. To start, let’s call in Kris
