Hi Marlene,

Thank you for the informative post that you have done. Indeed, outbreaks of infectious
diseases are a public health emergency due to the fact that if the situation is not well managed,
there is a high likelihood that a lot of individuals health may be negatively impacted. The burden
of managing the disease will of course lead to more issues for example social & economical
outcomes (Libertucci, 2019). You have also done a great epidemiological analysis expounding on
key differences of small pox, polio and Covid 19. Addressing also the issue of benefits of
resolving health problems within a particular population is pertinent.

Hi Sheila,
I do agree with your assertions that diseases are issues that have been affecting the whole world
for a long period of time. By 1980, the whole world received positive news that a solution had
been arrived at to deal with the issue of small pox. Later on, polio also affected a lot of
individuals across the world (Rohr et al., 2019). Fortunately, the presence of vaccines has meant
that the infection is now easily managed. Covid 19 on the other hand now can be managed and
also there are vaccines available to ensure that our bodies can be able to resist the Corona virus.
Thanks for the great discussion.

Hello Pamala,

Indeed, controlling infectious diseases has never been a walk in the park. This is a hard task that
requires a lot of skills & research to ensure that there is achievement of the set goals and
objectives. Despite many advances, the issue of prevention, treatment and management is still
something that is widely being experienced (Stockmaier, 2021). There is need of nations to come
up with health frameworks on how these issues can be amicably addressed. Some of the key
lessons learnt include the fact that so long us there is good patient management most of these
infectious diseases can be overcome.
